On Nov 4 2008, I cried in a ballroom full of African-Americans, when it was projected that the winner would be the USA's first black president. I also cried when that president announced he would be escalating white-white-white George bush's war against afghanistan.
I think Obama has buckled under the threats or whatever of the glory-hound generals serving in those wars. The poor and racial minorities will suffer most from this. Opposing Obama is not racist. Opposing these wars is right.

In 2008 Paul, Kucinich, Nader, etc. did debate on C-SPAN. Look it up. In any case, third party candidates are only useful as spoilers for Democrat or Republican, nothing else.

@Grunnow - both ron paul and dennis kucinich seem to think a bit more deeply and are more in touch with reality than any of the politicians who we pay attention to in the mainstream. it would be a real victory for us all if it was a kucinich vs. paul presidential race... they might debate real issues that could actually cause change instead of the rhetoric we have been getting. addressing farming (hemp!), clean distributed and self generated energy, foreign independence, etc. would be great

@avcolo - I certainly am in agreement with you. Dennis Kucinich is definitely a man that sticks by principal and not by party and whatever the greedy lobbyists' agenda they're trying to push onto congress. He certainly doesn't fall for any of that crap. And I can respect him a lot for that. I really wish there were more in congress with honesty and integrity like that.
I don't agree 100% with his policies, but he's always worth a listen, and I'll drop whatever I'm doing just to watch.

It's ironic because Kucinich's current position is what the Republicans took in '94. His foreign policy in accordance to the Obama climate is very conservative.

In fact, it has been historically very liberal to "spread democracy" to the world. Such a philosophy was first pioneered by the big-left man himself, Woodrow Wilson, and used heavily by Clinton, and ironically, the lefty RINO George W Bush (yes, despite his social views, he was very leftist). For Kucinich to retort that Afghanistan is a hopeless cause would have outraged Democrats back in the 90's

Corporate America and special interests have this country by the throat. They are the ones that call the shots. Bush leaves, Obama come on the scene. Same old, same old. If the elected presidents just did what they promised, things would be okay. But they say or do anything and then do nothing they promised. There are two differnent parties but they subscribe to the same interests. The American people are represented by no one.

The Republican Party and the Democrats are controlled by Corporate America and special interests. It doesn't matter who's in office, who gets elected, etc. As it stands now, it's like we only have a one party system. What's needed is a viable third party candidate that doesn't take marching orders from anybody except the American people.

It's kind of ironic though that Dennis also takes a position that has shifted through the extremes of left and right politics, and that is that "war creates unemployment". Directly contradicts the New Deal, and most highschool history books, both considered leftist institutions, but if you think about it are quite right-winged by today's standards if George Bush and the present day neocons are used as a litmus test. You raise an excellent point. There is no longer a such thing as true unbaised media. Fox is ultra right, MSNBC is ultra left, CNN is left. BBC is Pro-Western but pretty good. When looking a particular issue I think is better to watch different medias to see what is truth and what is opinion. I have found Al Jazeera is pretty good at being objective....some bias but not to the degree as American media is.

Fox actually has more liberals than CNN OR MSNBC, but they use them mostly as straw-men to beat up on. CNN mostly follows the prevailing winds, but they are only "left" to the degree that they are defined as so by the far-right. MSNBC is the only network with undiluted liberal voices so they are "far left," but only as compared to Fox news.
I agree BBC and Al Jazeera are good.

I get tired of MSNBC sometimes myself. I want hard news, not political preaching to the choir, but MSNBC is NOT the Fox news of the left, and I get really sick of people saying that. MSNBC is not "extreme," but they host the only liberal opinion shows on television so they appear "extreme" left next to the right-wing wasteland that is mainstream cable punditry.

You can't go into the middle east and think you can change thousands of years of culture in few years. Guess what it has been tried and never worked.
