Mixed in Key does everything he has printed on his CD's automatically. The software makes my life so much easier, best $50 on djing spent ever, only problem is that you have to purchase the mac and pc versions separate which seriously sucks. But you should def have a copy of this software. If you wanna mix like him you gotta use it, funny thing virtual dj is the only software with key detection software built in (idk how accurate it is) but funny fact nonetheless.
@Gwilin either, do it at home by, matching the key using scales, or you can you look up the key on beatport, just make sure you write down what the key is so you remember it. Also you could buy and download mixedinkey for 58 dollars and it will examine and display all the keys on your tracks, also it is an introduction to harmonic mixing.
he put in the time to burn individual tracks and label em each with key and bpm - thats the work you gotta put in to be a pro like this man. cue cards and premade intro are essential if you dj at the scale he does.
@dogger37JC hes no erick morillo or roger sanchez but he brings his sets together in a way thats really only possible with planning. I havent seen too many djs just show up with no idea of what they will do (i.e. no planning, no practice) and just rock the place. When youre in front of 800 to 2000 people and never once acknowledge the crowd, youre ither dj Bad Boy Bill or you probably need more practice if it takes absolutely everything you got just to eq and effect.
He's not a lot of Dj's who actually do actual on the fly mixing and are creative. He like so many trance Dj's just play tracks and that is about it. There are plenty of talented Dj's who don't plan there sets ahead of time. I can't count how many Dj's I've heard in interviews that say exactly that. But then Dj's like AVB tend to play the same sets every place they go...
@dogger37JC Id agree with you for the most part but it comes down to the fact that there is no one way to do this and honestly,AVB gets payed just like the rest of them no matter what we say. At that point you just have to decide what you want to listen to and turn away if you dont like it. I dont know too many DJ critics who get payed for it
@dogger37JC Now if youre mixing on three or four decks at once, constantly dropping acappellas and bringing pieces of tracks in and out its probably for the best that u pay most of your attention to the gear. Either way, this is a pro DJ sharing some info. I know from seeing him live that hes not even scraping the tip of what he knows or can do.
@Dry4ds0n Yeah I can understand that, I'm Indian and I know we do it to sometimes because it feels like its better to talk in a certain manner so that people can understand what were saying properly.
@janiskaplis the funny part about this is that if you ever see him live, it really does feel and look like you are watching God deliver a mindblowing performance.
if you're smart and use a current software like Traktor you can store up to 8 cue points right there in front of you, without the need of messing around whit sd cards to store them. cdjs are dead. bring on the digital djing age
@assais rekordbox lets you set cue points. And cdjs are nice because you just bring your music and don't have to fiddle with setting up a laptop. I don't think cdjs will be dead anytime soon. Also noboby is really using cds with them anymore either.
@bondizzy pioneer CDJs have a software called "record box" you pre program the hot cues using the software, store the data on an SD card and then the CDJ recognizes the data on the SD card. CDJ-2000 and 900s allow you to link up to 4 CDJs, and have all your tunes, hot cues, etc on one single USB flash drive or SD card, all courtesy of record box
i'm not in to your music mr. van buuren. but i still have some respect for you, i have learned of this video some really intresting things :)
thanks.
