panther martins ftw one of the best trout lures ive used honestly the smaller ones are alot better tasting if your eating better to keep big ones in great condition like that in the water but still a great keeper !
in kentucky at paintsville lake spillway,the trout grow to 5 and 6 pounds if they dont get caught and eaten by birds and HUMANS .... fishing pressure on the rainbows there is humongous, its actually real sad. but try trout magnets.youll get lots.
Nice Fish! and i have to confess Panther Martins are the best and have caught 200+ trout from one special High Sierra Lake over a span of 4 days. The most effective color for me is the black with red spots. Honorable mentions: dressed black rooster tail or dressed red w/silver blade, also dressed Mepps Black Fury. All above lures also worked well in the Wind Rivers, WY
nice fish. for those big rainbows, browns, and steelys try a neon green spotted mepps spinner. i caught a 14 lb brown in the AuSable river on one. the fish was a bueaty just like that 1!
I caught a HUGE rainbow like that, with a hooked snout, in Bull Creek # 2 or #3 on the Grand Mesa, Colorado.
We biked in, and the fish spanned from my shoulder to my finger tips, cradled along the length of my arm.
What a monster! A lot like yours. The line broke, when i tried to pull him on to shore, and I jumped in and started scooping water til I got him landed!
