  • Row 2 = 1,2,1 Because 1+1 = 2 and the other 1s just go down

    Row 3= 1,3,3,1 Because 1+2 = 3 and the other 1s just go down

    Row 4= 1 4 6 4 1 Because 1+3 = 4 and 3+3 = 6 while the other 1s just go down

    etc..

  • Thats the difference of 2 squars, the answer is 4a^2 - b^2 , the middle terms will cancel out.

  • If you're really finding it difficult, try to substitute another letter instead eg 1/x = b. And then work with b. At the end you can change it back.
