  • So step zero is boil water? Thanks! I like your neck beard.

  • Thanks so much. I was trying to decide if I want to buy one, and I think I will. Good job.

  • aww he is so adorable lol :)

  • Speak up!

  • i dont understand...why do u need a coffee press...cant u do the same thing in a regular class container then just pouring it through a mesh filter?

  • Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed your presentation as I am new to this type of coffee making!

  • thanks ese

  • Good video - thanks! The CoffeeGeek on here has a video in which he removes as much of the coffee grounds with cupping spoons before he plunges. I guess the idea behind that is it makes the plunging very very smooth and quick and keeps the coffee from continuing to steep in the grounds on the bottom. Perhaps removing the ground might ruin the crema...? I've never French pressed, but have the Bodum Columbia stainless steel one on order. Can't wait to try it.

  • Thank you! Btw, you have beautiful eyes.

  • lol nice vid

  • What size is the scoop?!?!?

  • what size is that? That's not enough coffee in there for me alone yet for me and my husband! :-(

  • @hipretty

Jesus. Don't kid yourself, baby. Caffeine is a DRUG.

  • @ButtPoopWiggle yeah I know and it's legal too...cool isn't it?

  • @ButtPoopWiggle indeed caffeine is a minor drug... legal though :p

  • I got a thumbs down for my previous post (LOL) because I like a couple of cups and so does my hubby? LOL!!! wow!

  • Funny guy. Good vid. But I wanted to see how the coffee grounds are dealt with, created.. maybe a different video out there. Anyway, good job, and nice work keeping the hoodie strings from getting in the way! lol..

  • This is a very good tutorial, you did everything right to make a great cup of coffee. I only have one suggestion to all of you first timers out there, when you add the water to the coffee in the press, you should also stir the water to mix all of the coffee with the water. great video man

  • Perfect! This is a simple, easy-to-follow tutorial. Thank you for making this; it is a very nice, enjoyable, no-fuss tutorial, and your personality is very likeable. Your video is very nice. Thank you again for your style and your simple instructions. * * * Best regards! * * *

  • ,,,,,nice,,Can you tell me something I`m getting just the bottom notes or an earthy taste I`m not use to im use ing 2 coffees Columbian,,,Eathopian but all taste the same....please comment if you will ,,not on my spelling ,,,I got this coffee just roasted the press was first time used but I made 10 cup,s all same taste....

  • -- 2 tablespoons per 7-8 oz. water

    -- GOOD quality water

    -- Brew at 205 F degrees temperature

    -- Grind: coarse and consistent

-- Time: Try brewing at 3 minutes first. More if you want it stronger.

-- Stir before or after brewing

If you want more top notes, try increasing the amount of coffee and A.) brewing shorter B.) a coarser grind D.) a lower brewing Temp

Play with the variables: amount of beans, temp, time, grind.

    Try Costa Rican beans.

  • I agree with Rod- it sounds like your water or your grind (if not the actual coffee itself) might be to blame. I tend to use filtered water and a coarser grind of my favorite blends than I would use in a conventional coffee maker.

And definitely stir before pressing! That's the one thing I forgot in the video!

  • I liked your video! Very nice and easy to understand.

  • dont worry guys ill make a BETTER video

  • nice video,

the only thing i would add is stir the grounds before you press. using course grind works best as does freshly ground beans. can't be beat.

  • Thanks. I failed to include that in my list below. Good critiquing and informing helps those seeking to use this device properly to facilitate creating a decent cup.

  • This video isn't titled "How to make the best cup of coffee" it is simply how to use a french press. Geeze!

  • fuck man whats with these 5 min vids on making plunger coffee, all i want to know it if you pull it up then push down or just push down.

  • you push it down yo. it's on the vid. push down the grounds so they stay outta yer cuppa!!!!

  • haha, I couldn't be fucked watching the vid cause it kept stopping cause of a slow connection, I just guessed. Haven't bought a cup of coffee in two weeks

  • I've been thinking of getting a french press. Thanks for the video!

  • I smiled through this entire thing. LOL

  • I love the French Press. I no longer use coffee machines because all it does is run room temperature water through the grounds and the pot is then heated. Makes no sense to me. With a French Press the hot water comes into contact with the grounds the whole time. Giving you stronger tasting coffee everytime. Cheers!

  • does coffee made with the french press taste much better? I've been wanting to try it...seems more fun than a traditional coffee pot

  • I have the Same French Press and it works wonderful. I'm great It works for you well.

  • It's 6 a.m. and I'm making french press coffee for the first time in well over 10 years. Thanks for the refresher ! . . . Now I'm just waiting for the caffeine to get into my system . . .

  • I would perfer a Hario French Press (if you can buy there) to a Bodum one since the sieve is much finer....

  • I would prefer you to keep your nonsensical opinions to yourself.

  • As for the difference between 'normal' (i assume you mean auto-drip with paper filter) and french press coffee: when making coffee with the french press, the natural oils of the coffee are retained in the liquid that you drink. Paper filters will retain most if not all of the flavorful oils of the coffee in the filter.

This is true with every method of coffee making that does not use a paper filter of some sort. Great Video!

  • hee hee, what started as someone being incredibly lazy and refusing to come to the kitchen for the French Press tutorial has morphed into historical archive worthy footage that sits poised on the ever fragile precipice of fame and international fortune. hawt!

  • micoolville: milli grazie per sue parole gentili! I worked at an Italian-American cafe for a few years and developed quite an affinity for their really good 'caffè'. e se trasmetto pace e serenità è perchè le caffè e mia jennimi!

  • ahahah che figata parli italiano!! che figata...ahah

  • snapesiren: it is *so* good. I think we're on our 48,000th cup or something (kidding). I'd offer some but the aroma-over-IP protocol is still in its infancy!

  • jennimi: thanks for having my back, as usual. this will make for a great treat and a good 'disaster recovery' coffee maker! :P

  • You have to try espresso... Italian coffee is absolutely the best! But I love this video cause it's soooo...calm! Non so perchè,ma mi trasmetti un senso di pace e serenità...è bellissimo!

  • that looks so good I can almost smell it. yum!

  • Yay!
