What a wonderful video. Thanks for posting. To anyone thats ever been in love...this song will bring back that first, unmistakable, nothing like it feelin..that you will NEVER forget. !
Oh the days, when you could tell the name of a song by listening to the lyrics. Heard this song in a Starbucks, wrote down the most oft-repeated line, and went looking for it on itunes. Didn't take long to find, and now I listen to it everyday.
Thank You! A great song from a more unpolluted time when inspiration still inspired belief in good and we were still feeling that time and good intentions and work would bring love and prosperity. How it should have gone. Dwight Eisenhower was right: "Beware the military-indistrial complex." Thanks again for a nice moment.
One can tell this is the original, enhanced version as soon after the video starts, when the lead singer closes his mouth but is still obviously holding a note. Also, the sound quality is studio quality, far superior to any stage sound. However, I love this song and love it even more while watching them perform on stage. Maybe a little curious how they really sounded on stage that night. Many of these old guys and gals can still perform their old hits very capably!
Legend has it that the lead singer Virgil Johnson was an eighth grade history teacher & the Velvets were his students in Odessa, TX. I believe two the the original Velvets are deceased. Virgil is still going strong.
What is with people thinking this is lip synching? That is the group singing in a great doowop show in Pittsburgh with other groups and the violinists joining in the background. I had never heard this song before- should be more popular- great job by the Velvets. The production on this is great, too.
Dave - thanks for this, but I don't live in the US. I plan to visit this year, and would love to see groups like this. Is there a website out there, or otherwise how would one find out where an oldies reunion-type show might be?
@dave24v Thanks Dave for uploading "Tonight", haven't heard this in decades. It made me so nostalgic for those better days it put me in a real funk but I have no regrets.....Thanks again!
@joncassel Check Doo Wop Shoo Bop. They are a record store that sells (many, many) doo wop cd's and get on their e-mailing list. Check their site for concerts. Their site one of the for doo woppers.

This is the song that played the night my wife and I got engaged. Still going strong after 38 years of marriage.

@LOCKED121 The soundtrack is from the original recording - the notes explain that Dave24v replaced the live soundtrack.

lip synching is obvious, the record is playing in the background, lead singer's lip movements don't even match the lyrics
