  • WOW! The Commodores back then was a regional group, summers in the early to mid-70s my siblings and I were 'sent' south (NC) and we would hear songs like this and some Bar-Kays from my cousins, we would buy the 45s and 'import' them back to New York. Brings back memories of the parties in the community centers in those small towns where my mom is from and the girls that used to crush on me because I was from the 'big city.

  • Funk is what we need!! And damn..this is funk.

  • @abbeymanila Bump is the dance when you whip the side of your butt to your other partners butt and do it again while you reverse.Done this one summer on a party at our hood wearing an bell bottom jeans and a long sleeves with big cuffs that were pulled up to the middle hehehehe......

  • Motown - how in the hell could you hold on to this album from 1972 for two long years.? Didn't you realize this would top the charts immediately upon release. I think Berry Gordy hesitated on the Funk! Man the Commodores would've topped the charts way before EWF, OHIO PLAYERS, KOOL AND THE GANG, PARLIAMENT/FUNKADELIC etc. Instead he waited til' other groups was Funkin' radio.

  • @mixmastermo4 I head that. Although it wouldna mattered who came first, just sitting on it was an insult.

  • Lordee! Lordee! Church is in session. Hell yeaaaaaaaah. Lay your hands on me Commodores, Lay off that pop shet you got into latah on. This the real stuff!!

  • Back in the day we would insert the word's I'M FROM CHANEYVILLE HIGH :):):):):):):)

  • Thanks for the memories.....The Bump! WE used to dance to this tune during friends outings at the beach during summer of 70s

  • @abbeymanila

I think this is the days when you wear pants that covers the whole feet way back 74 with high heels shoes from glenmore

  • @joussef911 yes yes yes jossef "-) When you see your shoes during those days, its embarrasing. hahaha. High Heels are the IN thing, and yes, from Glenmore and Ang Tibay hahaha. Love the 70s! The whole of 70s.

  • This IS my first LP way back then. I was 15 in '75. It WAS groovy, man!

  • This is THE tune that started my soul journey. I'm still on the train, lol.

  • jjjjjeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh

  • stomping the neighborhood, south side of Peoria

  • Wow! Don't bother checking Wild Cherry.

    They don't even compare!

    tHANKS

  • I totally agree! However Wild Cherry's take was not that bad. Not that bad for white boys that is!

  • @brightchance Wild Cherry actually was not a bad band. They were real funk, the one song they got famous for doesn't express that. Check too hot to trot or Electrified Funk. They were a group of bad ass musicians

  • @chiknfulio I agree U Know Their song ok but I listen 2 (finally)and I was ___________________(help me out)they were more then THE SONG "Play your funky music, play funky music til' you die" an underrated LP totally.
