I couldn't beat this level in my childhood. I forgot that the barrels didn't keep spinning on the actual Super Nintendo if you didn't press anything and thought it was just normal. I was so proud a few months ago when I managed to beat it on ZSNES without using save states when I was making a 102% run. That level haunted me since my childhood but to know that I even conquered a harder version of this level makes me even prouder!
Anyway, this is easily the hardest level in the entire DKC series!
This...this level. This level is designed to break you. If it doesn't break you, it breaks your controller. Screw Animal Antics, this level is diabolus in silico. Whoever designed it should be disemboweled, dismembered, and dissolved in acid. But before that, he needs an arrow to the knee.
And they had the nerve to set a death trap when you've finally made it past the barrel gauntlet. When I finally made it through and immediately got shoved back onto spikes, I wanted to break my controller in half...
I tried for over an hour to beat this level on ZSNES. I came here to check how to do that, because something had to be wrong, the end of the level was impossible. Then I used a "cheat" to even it all and be able to proceed on the game. I slowed down the emulator 4x. With normal speed I could only reach until 1:56
Phew.. when you use an emulator the main barrel just keeps spinning!! I'm proud of just getting up to 1:51 with this crazy piece o crap! This version makes it look like a walk in the park..
Im currently trying to beat this level on Znes, with the rolling barrels, and it is SOOO much fun! I wish someone would make a platformer of this caliber with super hard levels. Anyways, i realized some retarded things about DKC2: When ejecting from a barrel, there are 8 trajectories you can travel, but 16 different sprites for the barrels point of direction, and it kind of rounds down, so that's why you feel that they are retarded sometimes. They should remove the TNT and death klobber after m
Sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious but this stage is TOUGH! And since I'm not using save states this time since I'm playing on the Wii VC version trying to get 102% it's even more difficult, I'm just lucky that I was smart enough to rack up past 99 lives by replaying Pirate Panic so many times, (and always going to the Wii menu rather than turning the system itself off so My position and lives would be saved) and after beating the first two Lost World stages which *2bcont.*
*Continued* and after beating the first two Lost World stages which were hard but actually about on the same level as the stages that are about as hard as the later one's in Gloomy Gulch to a lot of the one's in K. Rool's Keep, I mean they were hard but it just took some time to get past them and not to mention getting to their bonus stages to get their DK Coins were difficult but were still very possible with enough trying but Klobber Karnage here is where the Lost World starts *2bcont.*
*Continued* but Klobber Karnage here is where the Lost World stage's start to become and show the difficulty of a final world in a video game, it really starts to get hard and earn it's place as the final and hardest world to clear in the game, and if there is one thing I could use help with it's avoiding the Zingers in the second moving Barrel that crosses the spike pit , I mean how and when should I launch Myself above them in order to avoid getting hit by them? I'm still stuck here *2bcont*
*Continued* and since I'm trying to get 102% I also need to get the DK Coin in this world's bonus stage, this really isn't any easy task, Man sequel difficulty spike and Nintendo Hard indeed (see TV Tropes to find out what I mean).
The barrels are SUPPOSED to constantly spin once you're in them...thats the only thing that makes this level difficult. Instead of being able to easy aim everything, you have to time the spins right.
Makes the last barrel part jumping over bees a nightmare
@afrojayjay i dont think so there 2 different emulator did the zsnes put icons on ur screen if so drag those icons to the icons left by the snes9x and maybe that will work idk but i think its worth a shot
@randyman101 but is it a bug of snes9x or ZSNES? do you know how does the barrels behave on the console itself? Sadly I have never been able to play this game on my SNES, just DKC1 and 3
the barrels are nothing, what I dont get is how the fuck u jump over the god damn bee's. every time I do it I get hit on the way back into the barrel, even if it looks like I made it
you have to time it correctly, you have to be really close to the Zinger to avoid getting hit on the way down. when the barrel is almost ready to touch the zinger, blast out of the barrel.
Defeating K. Rool in Stronghold Showdown gives you the final Kremkoin, so you won't be able to fight him in the Lost World without beating him there first.
I think that your using ZSNES there's a glitch in that emulator that makes those barrels spin, I always used snes9x, that way you can record the avi files directly.
To get to the Lost World, the secret final world, use either the jet ski or hovercraft to swim in circles (clockwise) around the four rocks on the world map (it is in the first section on the map, above the first waterfall). Continue going around in these circles until the enterance of the Lost World rises up, leading you to the secret world.
Just something else I wanted to say. I remember finishing this level without a second Kong and I wanted to get to the bonus. I figured bringing up a klobber from the bottom would give me the boost I needed and it did fortunately. :-D
I also think you unlocked the perfect settings for DKC videos on YouTube. ;-)
Damn you ZSNES. This level took me HOURS to beat. If only I'd known!

yes you have to beat the first battle with Kaptain Rool since it gives you the 75th kremcoin, then you can beat Kaptain Rool for the "real ending"

Are you using the zsnes emulator? if so use snes9x because there is some sort of bug. When I used zsnes the barrels spun out of control with me.

Ok so the Zsnes version of this game is so difficult than the other guys who have Zsnes if you want to make it easier: play in slow motion.
Monty2007555 2 years ago
How do u put it in slowmo?
1337Battl3r 2 years ago
there should be options on the zsnes that lets you configure the slow and fast speed settings.

Hello Randyman101.
I have one question. How can you hold on the rotation of the barrel and how can you controll the direction after that?
Greedz from Germany ( my English is not so good i hope you understand the question:) Thanks!
zuv8vg8btvtr5rg 4 years ago
With the directional keys(left, right, up, and down) and perfect timing after I shoot out of the barrel the directional keys can still be used.
