  • My 33 pound dog figured out how to get under the gate all by himself. I wasn't even home. And the bottom of my gate just skimms the floor. If a dog, or cat, wants out, they will get out if they're smart enough. Now I have to duct tape the thing to the floor so he can't get his nose under it to lift it.

  • gee, lets go to the how to use page on the retract-a-gate website and read the installation instructions. I found the problem! The gate is installed wrong! the bottom brackets are supposed to be 3 inches off the ground not closer to 6 and it looks as though the bracket is facing the wrong direction as well. Ive followed the instructions for my retract-a-gates i have for my cats without an issue. i bet if he fixed is improper install hed be fine.

  • Very helpful. I was about to order this gate to confine a cat, and it's abundantly clear that when motivated (as I know he will be), he'll quite likely be able to go under the gate. Thanks for posting !

  • Well lets see.. lets call he cat some more. Oh look it went under the gate. Amazing.
