THE VOICE OF THE DEVIL.............IS HEARD IN OUR LAND!!!!!!!!!!!! This vocal performance is one of the best in alternative rock history. Thunderchild by Chris Thompson is also wonderfully epic
This track is my favorite off this album, along with the song Forever Autumn by Justin Haywood. All the songs are great but this stands as my all time favorite. The song itself and the title captures the spirit of the album.
I remember buying this album for this song. I still sing it to myself after all these years (shame I've no record player any more - damn house moves). No Lizzy collection should be without it (cheers Jeff, stonking project).
On another note, have I remebered right? Is Julie Covingham the other singer?
THank you thinlizzybandclub. DO you have full details of this recording, where, when etc.? Most importantly, who are the other singers besides Philip Lynott? Is this the original THin Lizzy?
@Justraycarroll This is the album War of the worlds, by Jeff Wayne. By my opinion Phil Lynnott was
the outstanding singer on this album. You also had Julie Covington from Evita, Chris Thompson from Mannfred Manns earth band and Justin Hayward from The Moody blues. Great narration from Richard Burton.
@Matshoppahulle Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds was released 9th June 1978, but was recorded and mixed between 18th May 1976 and 30th June 1977 almost exclusively at Advision Studios in London. Phil's legendary performance was captured in November 1976, whilst he was suffering with flu - true dedication! Anyone loving this album should buy the 7 disc Collectors Edition. It's fantastic. ;)
5 stars. Great lyrics. With all the talk aliens you could imagine the NWO reversing the concept. Alien microbes destroying most of the human race, Georgia Guidestone style. So much fiction seems to be pre conditioning for the future plans of the elite. Cheers
wow!! i had no idea Phil was in that movie..the music sounds familia to that record tho' ..houston come in houston..always remember Richard burtons intro to that tune..bacteria minute!! bacteria!! wish i remembered more..haha
In my opinion Phil Lynott really knows how to express this very dramatic character with the feeling of both despair and sensitivity this particular place in the story. He's just so good! One of the highlights on the record! He is deeply missed! Thanks for uploading, Klaudia.
I am a bit confused?. I asked no question, but just made an observation. I do not understand your reply as it seems somewhat defensive and I see no reason why. We have the like of Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott in common, and that is a good thing. I meant no offense and regret it if you saw it as that. Peace
War of the Worlds. Easily one of the best things I heard growing up. And that includes Thin Lizzy. Totally Top Post. Sound a bit distorted though. Could do with a re-edit.
Once upon a time I had mentioned I had a disc of demos and outtakes from the War of the Worlds stuff. I posted one take from it (mostly Lynott screaming and just screwing off), but I have tons more. I should get them back out and post a few.
Oh I was wondering what this was when I found the vid, but it's war of the worlds. Hahah, when I was listening to this a bit ago and I didn't know Phil was in it, I recognised his voice, and I thought, no it's not him, but I later found out it was. Phil is so fucking awesome he's even in war of the worlds!
@SHAYMCN2 absolutely, I'm blown away to hear this again. He's singing I think with Julie Covington. Pray that reincarnation is a truth, because the individual that inherits Phil's spirit is about the age now to unleash some awesome on the world of today.

This song is really hooking up!
Even beeing Phil's fan for 2,5 decades, just now I found this song.
This song also shows Phil's talent, as it sounds just as another average song without Phil.

MrRocked123 1 year ago
@MrRocked123 Herbie Flowers. He played the great bass line on Lou Reeds Walk on
the wild side, has played with Elton John, David Bowie...... Was a member of classical rock
group Sky in the eighties. Nowadays i do not know. Maybe old and nostalgic like me.
