I sent the link to some friends and family and they all replied they could not use these accounts so gave up.

The Scottish Parliament wasn't created to give Scots more representation, or as a precursor to independence, it was created because Scotland has different legal structures which ensured that any time Westminster legislated in certain areas MPs had to go through a tedious process of "translating" that legislation into something that could be administered in Scotland. There was a clear practical need for it which doesn't apply to England.

No, because laws passed in Westminster are/were drafted with a view to being implemented in the legal system of England by default. However because of Scotland's different legal structures, the same pieces of legislation often had to be adjusted so that they could be implemented effectively in Scotland (most of this was done by the Scottish Office).

As for North Sea Oil, the Shetland Islanders and Orkneys are not committed to being part of an independent Scotland. There history is more Danish than Scottish, and they may well go there own way and take the large slice of north sea oil which surrounds the Shetlands with them.

Wales has plenty of resources that would help any independent nation. The Severn barrage could create enough electricity for the whole of Wales. There are huge reserves of gas in old coal mines. The UN said resonantly that Water will be the most contested natural resources of the future and Wales exports millions of gallons to England every year.
