name one Guitarists was influenced by slash . he is way overrated and for the people saying jimmy page and hendrix and eric clapton are overrated i can name you million's of guitarists all over the world influenced by them . slash is a joke.
Hendrix is great, but overrated. White man's guilt is what pushes him to the front. Don't get me wrong, I like his playing, but white mans guilt is what puts him at the top of Rolling Stones list every year.
Of course Jimi is the best, no one else can compare. Clapton, Page, and van Halen are vastly overrated, Vai and Vaughan should be higher on the list. Sice the category is Influentiality, Berry should be #2, ROBERT JOHNSTON #3, and John Lee Hooker should be there. B.B. King is good, but possibly overrated, and not very influential in today's music. Satriani, ho hum, just a flashy showoff, and even more so Slash. What's so influential about Parvenu Metal?
the list is missing a few people wheres david gilmour brian may gary moore ritchie blackmore yngwie malmsteen peter green tom morello angus young pete townshend roy buchanan alvin lee randy roads django reindhart etc there can b no number 1 and hendrix is the most overated player ever did he invent tapping no pinched harmonics no sweep picking no he stole his act from players like t bone walker and buddy guy they were doing his tricks in the late 50,s and he ripped off clapton thats bad man
Where the heck is Gary Moore? You obviously don't know him! By the way, that's not Slash (with Michael Jackson) at 3:18, that's Steve Stevens (the guitarist of Billy Idol).
Lets give props to Tony Iommi he gave us heavymetal and the guy that says that he can learn any Sabbath song in less than 20 min. is full of himself . IOMMI fucking CRUSHES
@TheStapleZ Quite alot of people actually u dick did u not read it he satriani taught steve vai, kirk hammety, lary lalonde and many other guitarists Slash has also influenced thousands with his work in GNR and Velvet revolver also as a solo artist so fuck off with ur shitty comments this is a good top ten i would even put Slash second.
I find absolutely hilarious that when it came to slash all you could say is that he was a member of G 'n' R and that he owns 114 + guitars. He doesn't deserve to be in the same list as the likes of Page and Chuck Berry. Oh and you missed Tony Iommi and Dave Gilmour of your list, and Brian May

yeah HENDRIX 1 amazing bat player amd my fav 2 a true genius b4 he was famous asked 2 play wit clapton live on stage in london and clpton walked off mesmerised and in total shock !
i would have picked #1 easily slash cause he has done tributes to almost every main guitarist out their #2 jimmy page easily cause no one besides slash can play like him #3 clapton because he is just plain amazing he sings plays the electric guitar does piano writes most of his songs#4 hendrix cause he like invented rock and roll period
Hendrix is first and Eddie is second... based on facts not opionion, no eddie no vai, gilbert, so many more, no hendrix no kk downing the best metal guitarist
Hendrix would apparently be there because he created a sound. I think Stevie Ray Vaughan plays far better then him but Hendrix is the innovator. So that being said, then as they haven't specified Genre, I would say Pat Metheny created a very unique sound that many have emulated and should be on a top 10 list. So should Lenny Breau. I would also say Andy Summers (who influenced guitarists like the Edge of U2).
Sorry but if you are talking influential its Hank Marvin of the Shadows hands down he influnced Page, Clapton, Beck, Green, McLaughlin, Neil Young, Townsend, Knopfler, Santana, Zappa, May, Gilmour I could go on - basically every English guitarists (and some US/Canada) growing up as a teenager in Uk from 58-65ish.
@ajaxrules1975 dude how can you even say that lommi does some sick sols but his work is easy as hell to learn you can literly learn any one of his songs in like 30 or 20 minutes it takes me like a couple weeks to fully learn a slash song he influenced me to pick up a guitar and start playing in my book slash is number 1.
sorry but satriani recently said in an interview that he did NOT teach tom morello, and all my friends say that he did but sorry its not true, it came from his own mouth
I guess there really is no determining who's the best. Stevie Ray Vaughan deserves to be number 2 or 3. They never mentioned Jeff Healey once again which is Assinine.
@mean0machine0 I guess so. Now, I think about it, you can't really rate all guitarist because it is impossible but if you did it by a certain style or genre but it's impossible to me because they're all good.
Eddie Van Halen is overrated. To many guitarist can play fast, but how many can take a guitar, and sound like no one else. Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai, sound like Eddie. Who sounds like Jimi Hendrix?
Great list, but Keith should definitely be in there.
