I've tried several different roms of this game, tried playing it on several different emulators (though I'd prefer to have stuck w/ NNNester_J) but every time I get to the train level it freaks the hell out and the background and foreground clash with each other and shake like the game is having a seizure. Doesn't do it on the SNES vers, but dammit, the NES vers was the one I played when I was a kid and that's the one I wanna play, any suggestions -other than- play it on a physical NES?

@hamielgaming I agree! They had to be, or else you could beat them in like 30 minutes... They were short, probably due to the fact that they were only 8 bit and have limited capacity. That's my theory. I still haven't beaten Mission Impossible or Blaster Master. >_>

@blues03 it's a powerup, you can get two of them at once and they disappear when you die. super useful for killing the final boss :)

I find it funny that in the three minutes and fifty seconds you're able to reach that castle level, because when I remember back to when I was 8 years old and playing this game, I was like, "Oh my god, I am SOOO far in this game!!" when I made it there. Ha.

the first few levels are not too bad but after level 4 the game becomes really intense in difficulty.

At least they give you infinite continues unlike ninja turtles.

I also beat the first double dragon when i was a kid and it wasn't too hard.

The final boss in ninja gaiden 1 was hard because of his unpredictable pattern and having so much shit on the screen that you couldn't dodge it literally.

I died a lot in ninja gaiden 1 Why? because i'm new to the game itself and never played it.

Now maybe you played it so much that you know it by heart?

That happened to me with megaman 2 and 3.

As a child i beat them both with relative ease,why? i know them by heart. Perhaps someone who doesn't know the game might find it harder.

You know,i kinda like how they added weather in this game and you had to use it at your disposal because it can benefit or it can make your life harder.

@Kiraly30 I seem to have more problems with 2 than the first one, except Act 6 of NG1 is brutal. NG3 is out of this world...what were they thinking making a NG game without infinite continues? Never beat the North American version and I probably never will.

@DrJohnCockwalrus Part 1 6-1 - 6-4.....was tough...especially when you got to like 6-3 or 6-4 and died and had to start all the way back at 6-1....even if you lost fighting one of the last bosses...every time...back to 6-1......it sucked!!!! Part 2 just seemed shorter for some reason...Part 3 was tough there is no denying that!

I've never played this version...but I have played the first. Your gameplay makes it look so easy, but it was hard as hell for me. I'm glad they kept the same boss music...it's catchy for some reason. Thanks for posting!

Wow. I beat this game back in the day -- after months of trying, but you make this look easy. Very impressive. In particular, I remember the guys with the boomerang thingys being pretty tough. But you didn't get touched once. To tell you the truth -- not to dis modern gamers -- but they don't make em as tough as this anymore. There's too much focus on storylines.

Just got this game for the NES a couple of days ago and and beat it within 2 hrs, with no cheats. Very tough but not as ruthless as the original. Very good game, and a good speed-run.

I had Ninja Gaiden (1) for the NES as a kid, and loved it. Although only recently am I actually able to beat it.

So anyway, I decided to try Ninja Gaiden 2 recently, and was stuck on this level. Especially the boss.

The reason was that I didn't realize you could climb up walls in Ninja Gaiden 2... I was doing the old technique of jumping away from the wall and quickly pressing in the opposite direction, over and over again. It should be pretty easy now. :)

That is pretty decent walkthrough. But i see that you choose to make your life hard in some areas where you choose to exchange the invincibility shield with a common item.

I always thought that Ashtar deserved a much more important role in this game. He was way more cooler than Jaquio....
