  • what kind of spray paint did you use to paint your overflow?

  • like how much you will charge me to make me tank 2 feet by 2 feet and 2 ffet tall

  • Curious as to how the whole system works, i've read through the main article but i dont understand how the full siphon (without the airline tubing) starts up and begins siphoning on its own. im filling up my tank now and its not doing anything, the emergency kicks in untill the open channel gets the water inside the box to the appropriate level but the full siphon is not doing anything. do i need to prime it? If so then how does it kick back in if say a power outtage happens?

    Im comming to you

  • because im still waiting for a response on the reef central thread but i was wanting to get the prospective of a fellow canuck who has this on their tank.

  • where did you get your 1 inch bulk heads from?

  • @Whoppingplayer1 BRS :)

  • Getting ready to upgrade my tank to a 60" 100g. I did my 55g overflow in acryllic, but my 100g is glass. I've read where acryllic and glass don't bond well together. Have you heard what thickness of glass I would need for a 60" span. My tank glass is 3/8", but I don't think I would need that thick for the overflow. I've tried contacting Bean, but he has pm's turned off...I'm assuming for good reason

  • @br0ken68 please see reefcentral for answers to this.

  • this video answer alot of questions for me thanks new hobbiest in reef

  • Do you think this overflow system would be overkill for a 12g long (36x8x9). You seem very knowlegable(excuss the typos) what would you recomend I do for an overflow?

  • @SparksReef You might be best with a Durso and an overflow.

  • @1mkwiet okay thanks ill check that out

  • well I finally getting everything setup. I'm having some trouble dialing in the overflow though. My channel with airline is completely open with elbow turned down. Emergency is wide open and elbow turned up. Midlle one is about halfway. Overflow is filling part of the way up then dumping all at once and airline makes a gurgling like a straw when you are out of soda. It makes this sound about every 30 seconds. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?? Banging head againist wall now lol.

  • @br0ken68 That's normal...what's happening is your syphon channel is slowly purging all the air. A way to make this go faster is to open the syphon all the way, then wait a min, then turn down a bit, wait a min, turn down a bit, wait....repeat till you have it dialed in.

  • I'm making same overflow. But mine has about a1/2 inch gap towards the middle of the tank. Think of a smile, ends are gap free and middle bows outward I might have to add another piece of acryllic and silicone. I'm trying to determine how to fix this. My tank is acryllic. Has silicone alone been able to support the water pressure againist your overflow? I was attempting to use weld on 4 (water thin), but it dosen't allow for gap filling. I can do weldon 16 which does fill gaps.

  • Did you paint the bottom of the overflow or left it clear for lighting? I painted mine, now Im wondering if I should have left clear. I guess I could alway put low light corals under there. Thanks in advance. Mines only a 55 gallon,., I'm jealous of your skimmer just so you know. I'm in the process for saving for my skimmer and pumps. I know I can't afford the cone one, but looking at the 150 nwb.

  • yup painted it all. sounds like you got a good start on it.

  • Well, bulkheads are really hard to find here.

    Im thinking of ordering.

How big did you drill your hole?

Is it 1"? Or is it bigger to fit the bulkhead inside?

  • I used 1" bulkheads which require a 3/4" or

    45mm hole.

I'm i Canada....ordered my bulkheads and drill bits from mops

  • did you drill your own holes on this or did you have someone do it for you?

  • drilled them myself. very easy just make sure there's water for cooling and let the drill bit dot he work. Also make sure it's not tempered glass.

  • also I got my drill bit from Mops.

  • what are the deminsions of your 90

  • it's a shallow. 48" long, 24" wide, 18" tall.

  • That's a sweet looking system. I didn't see where the return could be placed though. Could you share the details on how you will plumb the return?

  • I am almost done the plumbing and should have a vid of it by weeks end. It's pretty sweet :)

  • Cool do u have any plans for livestock yet?

  • not really. I don't want a lot of fish. I'm going as colorful as I can with this tank so I'm thinking the clowns, mitchell, fire angle, coral beauti (added at the same time), yellow tang, and some pink ones the wife likes, maybe a 6 line warsse, some blenny's or something.

  • cool i wouldnt get angels if i were u ppl on my forum hate them because they eat zoanthids and polyps!!!!!!!!

Also u should get a redspotted blenny, my favorite fish!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are white with redspots all over themselves!!!

  • good advice thank you. I think you're starting to sell me on the red spotted.....I like bycolor and cardinal also.

  • ya there really cool!!! wat is the cardinal?

  • oops I mean midas.

  • ya i like Midas Blennies too.

I don't think u have seen my update for my tank yet? I am not sure though.

  • Looks good

  • ahhhh i see you do have a new 90gal update
