What I hate is that Bono can't sing. He couldn't play an instrument so he's 'the singer.' The positive comments here can only be the result of a generational divide that shows the totally subjective quality of fan worship. By any vocal standards, Bono has no voice. Sinatra recognized U2's popularity-period. He had no interest in their music whatsoever. Phil Ramone produced these duets via fiber optics and they were a hit to be sure. Music critics like Will Friedwald or Gary Giddens detest them.

You seem to be confessing your ignorance of Sinatra's original recordings. Sinatra scored when singers had no auto tune and had technically more challenging songs. I'm not familiar enough with the Clash to comment. Led Zeppelin was probably the greatest rock band ever. Bono said he can't play guitar.
