Call me crazy but... I think that in this movie hannibal seems kinda sexy.....maybe I am just crazy.... but really espicially when he licks his fingers.....
please, despite what people will tell you, you're not crazy- bc i thought the exact same thing. he IS fucking sexy in this movie... and when he licks his fingers... yea dont even get me started on it. i dont care if people think i've got issues for it. its true to me. or hey, maybe we are both crazy. but whatever, it doesnt matter to me, i enjoy it. it was an amazing movie, and i LOVE his character.
I loved this movie and Gaspard playing Hannibal, because I think he captured what Harris wanted the character to be. And I think although Hopkins did an amazing older Hannibal I can't think of any young actor than could have pulled this off.
This is supposed to be PRE Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs. Of course there's no Anthony Hopkins. Hopkins could never play a younger Hannibal, he's too old.
I have not read the book, so I might be indicting the author.
I feel Hannibal relates with Clarice & the spring lambs, hunting the hunter as a complex, methodical mind with logical reasoning. Lizzie Borden with good intent. (cannibalism.. shutters!!!)
A prequel going to childhood issues will lose Hopkins-Demme's brilliance.
I'll give you that Hopkins and Lecter are like peanut butter and jelly. But isn't peanut butter good with bananas, also? [Horrible, horrible metaphor.] What I'm saying is that although it's something different, you really shouldn't cast it away like some child does a toy they didn't want.
You haven't read the books? Read them.
No, it will not. The prequel could help one better understand WHY Hannibal does what he does, how he ticks. Better yet, why he ticks.
My issue with this movie is that the M.O. of THIS Hannibal doesn't match the one in "Silence"...and there were several things about the character which didn't quite work. That said, I still thought the movie was decent...and I do A COMEDY MOVIE REVIEW of it at my channel. Hope you'll come take a look.
I totally agree with you there. I think Gaspard did a wonderful job as Hannibal, at one point he took me back to Silence of the Lambs...I could have sworn I was watching a young Hopkins. I loved the movie, and I intend to read the book(s).
actually its based on the book, just like ll of the others were. And sadly with the exception of silence of the lambs they did not follow the storyline very well. Hopefully this one will be decent.
what's the background music?

I find the choice of using music from Stargate in the preview bizarre.
AngelofRent 5 years ago
the music is from stargate?
LC510 5 years ago
The music in the second half is from Stargate.
It's the music when the soldiers send the bomb back to Ra. They also used the music in the previews for ID4.

I really liked Red Dragon and the original "Lambs" film so hopefully this is more like those 2 and less like Hannibal

NO Sir Anthony Hopkins?
This trite floundering trout trying
to swim up stream in a bath tub - this movie deviates from the feeling Lamb's & Hannibal. No Hopkins, no way.
Killed & gut the name.
Were I in a hole & told,
"it will watch the movie or it will get the hose."
I rather drown.

Lecter & Hopkins & Demme make the character.
prequel misses the complex lecter's soul.
I have not read the book, so I might be indicting the author.
