Mine don't eat their young, they suck them in, and spit them out. I may make more videos of this to let other people see it's actually a protection thing.

try putting in dither fish the next time you breed convicts or any other cichlids. It prevents the parents from turning against each other as they see each other as a threat.

There are two reasons I can think of.
1) Mama started eating fries, thus Papa start attacking Mama.
2) You aggravated them too much with the camera and such, resulting in Papa killing Mama.

Went away for weekend came make and he was dead.Females(even small)can defend babies viciously.The stress can kill.But who knows.Thanks for comment.
