  • @Myrnir violin supply places as bowhair

  • os teus videos não tem nota negativa, todos estão verdes...( brasil)

  • Sorry Michael where can i find Horsehair strings?

  • I saw your video on using florocarbon strings on the Anglo Saxon Lyre. Do you think florocarbon would be any good for a bowed instrument like the jouhikko? It really beefed up the tone on the plucked lyre.

  • How long does it take to make a jouhikko?

Is playing without saddle (the bridge near the pegbox) much more though? What kind of wood you recommend for top?

    Your videos are very inspiring.

  • I make make one in a week, though I normally take longer, you can make them as simple or as complicated as you like,

Spruce, used for violins and guitars is the best top wood.

A challenge to play, but easier than a crwth I would say!!

  • These sound good. I prefer the metal-stringed tone.

How are you stopping the strings? It looks as if you're using the backs of the fingers on your left hand. Is that right?

  • Yes, the older technique is to play with the backs of the fingers, which is really weird at first, It feels like reverse playing, I find the chinese erhu easier than the Bowed lyre to play... There are several videos showing both the old and new techniques like Pekko kappi

  • Really interesting. Thanks Michael.

  • Wow! I'm impressed at how rich these sound. Very nice.

  • That last lyre had best sound ;) Nice video.
