I am 18 and I read the newspaper everyday and get online to Yahoo.com and read the news storys there twice a day. I then watch the Daily show and the Colbert Report. I really like the Daily show because its basically badgering the Old people who yell at kids to stay off there lawn. Why can't we go on the lawn, its grass? But for some reason the old people care. Colbert is the stubborn old guy with his own show. He is just so over the top with it, its funny.

The fact that the Daily Show has this much influence and their research department is this much better than the news networks continues to be a national tragedy. The mainstream media (MSNBC, CNN, and Fox) should be ashamed of themselves, but as long as they get to cash those big paychecks and sit at the cool kids table, they wont be. And America will continue to suffer for it.

Like DR in Denmark, which is a public service network. It's independence from the market is funded by the licens every danish citizen of legal age pay to them. Thus they are not depending on sponsoring, private funding or ratings, but only have one obligation and that is to inform the danish people.

@oleok3 I don't agree, because that makes the reporters accountable to the government for their jobs. Reporters in a free market change in their accountability to the people who own the company, and while the interests of their employers will still distort the objectivity of the news that's reported it can at least make it profitable to uncover the government's wrong doings. A truly objective news system would have to be achieved another way.

It is horrifying not that The Daily Show is the main political source but that it is more accurate than FOX and it contains as much "journalistic input" as several ordinary news-stations. If people have a problem with people watching the Daily Show those people need to improve the quality to their own news-stations.

One; "real"-news people can't do comedy, and two; "real"-news people can't entertain and keep their attention very high for reasonable long period of time.
