  • That wouldn't by chance be Ken Middleton's House of Pancakes, would it? I heard he was branching out. This is unbelievably beautiful! I am sure Ken is going to give you a free stack of flapjacks. With blueberries, if you want 'em. And if he doesn't, I will.

  • @songblurred Thanks, Don! This Ken's is on the Big Island, and it's been around for a while! I love pancakes!

  • @DarkmoonRising69 Thanks, Laurence!

  • Awesomeness to the tenth level! This song brings back allot of memories cruising with my brother in his hotrod VW Bug in the early 70s. Mahalo John.

  • @AhnkoHonuUkulele Mahalo, Ahnko! Yes, Layla is a great song to blast in the car!

  • Sounds mighty fine! Just yesterday Paul was trying to learn Layla on his 'ukulele. If he gets it right, maybe you & he can do the whole thing. I really, really, really like what you did here. It sounds GREAT!

    Me ke aloha,

    Wanda

  • @wjc1952 Mahalo, Wanda! Paul and I must be on the same wavelength. I tried to fiddle around with that riff made famous by Duane Allman... very tough to play fast. If Paul or I ever get it down, I'd like to combine the two parts. Anyway, so glad you like it!

  • Wow John!! This one is so great!! Ukulele harmony perfection!!!

  • @joaniev Thanks, Joanie! I tried to go higher on the fretboard, but it sounded funny. Wish I could have had somebody add some slide ukulele!

  • I've enjoyed everything you've done, but this is the best I've seen! You're blessed to be so talented and creative. Mahalo for making this vid!

  • @SpiritOfGaman Mahalo, L! If I can ever master that riff in the first part, I'll try to record it and combine the two parts!

  • Very nice John, it's a favorite of mine also. I liked the pictures too! Diane :o)

  • @EarthsAngels Mahalo, Diane!

  • Great, John!

  • @floydbluethereal Thanks, Ralf!

  • @floydbluethereal Thanks, Ralf!

  • Lovely :)

Noticed you are using a Wound C string for the finger picking. Would you say it is better than all nylon?

  • @kistran Thank you! No special reason for using the wound C... it just happens to be what I have on the uke!
