I live in Los Angeles and at the freeway entrance I use daily on my way to work there are two people... One white guy asking for handouts...One latino selling fruit. I used to work at the day labor site and all of the people there are exremely hard workers. They are people just like you and me and they all deserve fair treatment. If more people took the time to actually talk to the day laborers, they might start to understand that they are not bad people and that they want to do good things in the community.

When I was growing my parents thought it was more logical and beneficial for me to learn proper english but I guess they were wrong. and for those who say they should enter legally, you might wanna take a look at our immigration system, these people sometimes wait 20 years to get approved, starving children cant wait 20 years to legally work in the US.

@bigdaddyhotsauce I am an impoverished U.S. citizen who also happens to be Mexican with a B.S. in Agriculture. I lost a call center job because I dont speak spanish. When I was growing my parents thought it was more logical and beneficial for me to learn proper english but I guess they were wrong. Now I am so poor I only eat 1 time a day which is starting to turn into every other day. I currently have $5 in my account. Oh and im using the library computer right now to look for a job........

@MattyTheMole No shit huh? Here in Oregon it has been really hard for us Legitimate workers to even get a job at Taco Bell. I had a call center job as well, however I lost it too. Fuck the illegal immigrants I don't care if they are hard working people I am hard working as well however I keep being told I am "Over Qualified" I take that as being "I am Too Legit".

this is the common misconception and mistatement quoted by people who haven't even begun to look at the stistics and figures of how much goes out of the pockets of legal migrants and naturalized Americans in terms of benefits, social services and criminal activities. My fiance works wtih teh system and deals with these lazy slobs on a daily basis.
There are MILLIONS of legal migrants to this country, like myself, who have earned our hard earned dollar and contributed to this nation!

@bigdaddyhotsauce I would. I have nothing against Mexicans, If I were poor and living in Mexico I would do what I had to just like them. I have a lot of Mexican friends but that doesn't mean I like that fact that they took my livelihood away from me. I was a carpenter and loved the work. I just couldn't compete with what they are willing to work for. I have rent to pay and they live in temporary flop houses until they've saved up enough to go back to Mexico to visit the family.

I have seen American day laborers here in CA. If more begin to show up these illegals are going to have stiff competition and this could be the answer to saving our economy.
