Does he ever pee or poo on you or on the floor or things? How do you control him from peeing and pooing? That is the thing I am most worried about. Whenever I hold an animal I always worry if he/she will poo/pee on me.

@SimonCU unlike hamsters or gerbils, rats are smart and don't want to use the bathroom any other place then their cage bathroom (usually!)

@SimonCU Rats generaly won't poop on your unless you scare them or you simply do not put them down in a timely manner for them to go.... They generally always have alittle bit of urine streaming....The urine trails remind them that that is a place another rat has been so it is safe. Its not enough for you to notice

@kernqr I found an article that rats don't usually use wheels because they are too smart to be entertained by such a thing like running in a wheel. My hamsters love them but all my ratties just used them to sleep in.

@poppx3 Rats will kill mice... I had a rat quite a few years back & mice as well. Nicest rat ever & I took them all out at the same time & she destroyed all of them so fast. I was a child so I didn't know that would happen ): but they will not, & do not get along.

This cage looks so small for these 4(?) rats. ._. Is this the only home for them? Because they need way more place to live in. .__. Also the wheel is dangerous for rats because of their tails, they can injure them. ._.

i open the video to make it big ya know expand it. then i pause it so it can catch up and load. and as i was waiting for it to load i thought to my self wow she is really pretty. then i look at your hair and see a foot coming out of your shoulder. i just thought that was different. i love your little rat he is supper cute. great video!! :)

grate video! at a pet store those cardboard tubs are 7$ but there free with oatmeal ROTFL! breadcrumbs come it tubs too but you have to cut off the metal bottom. another free toy is an empty tissue box if there pop up tissues you have to put out the plastic fist, my rats like to sleep in them! and like the tubes you just throw them out when they get messy or chewed cuz there free!

@LightlyLexi Hi! Thanksss so much :D!!! Awesome!!!! Rats are soooo much fun they are the best small pet you can get<3 Love them! Make sure you get 2 ratties though! People say it is almost cruel to get just 1. Cause when you aren't home they would get to lonley :( But if you can only get 1 play with it as much as you can!!! :) I bought the blocks from Petsmart but there is different brands of blocks that you could probably get from any petstore but make sure it says for rats.

@LightlyLexi Aw :( Wish he would let you get 2. But as long as you play with her everyday and give her lots of treats she'll be fine! :D And I got Marley, Waylon, and my new ratty, Oliver from Petsmart. But I got Dexter from my local petstore, he was gonna be snake food but I saved him :) And when I open my cage door they run over to the door and climb up to my shoulders :DD And no, when you first buy them they will be shy but once you tame them they are like the best little pets!

@LightlyLexi and btw if you notice that your rat is chattering its teeth and its eyes are like popping out of the socket its nothing bad or there is nothing wrong, its called Bruxing, it means they are very happy, excited, and content :D My boys do it all the time! Its so cute<33

I'm really not sure, my dad wants me to get a female cuz apparently they smell better (do your rats smell significantly different from eachother; do they smell at all? My stepmom has a supernose and flips about smells XD) but I really just wanna go to the petstore, meet all the rats, and pick the one I like the most, heh

@LightlyLexi Yeah, i've heard that too but people say they smell the same, and nope as long as you clean there cage once a week it will smell clean. My petsmart only carries boys, does yours? And sorry I don't know how long it took to tame my ratties. I have heard to tame them you have to talk to your rat softly while petting it and give them lots of treats. Give them fresh fruits and veggies everyday! And i just played, held, and gave my ratties treats and they just started to love me haha :DD

@LightlyLexi Yeah some boys mark but some don't. And I am going to make a video of what fruits and veggies to feed them and what not to so keep an eye out for that video :)) I give my rats apples, lettuce, celery, corn, peas, carrots, and there is others I can't think of right now. And they LOVE oats! Do not feed them peanut butter and salty foods. And don't give them bananas or pinapple it causes dirreahea. And if they eat peanut butter they can choke.
