  • @chevythegreat: ok heartbeat raising... trying to hold back excitment.... lol. That is great information. Thanks very much!

  • bonjour je possede une honda VT500 C de 1984 et je voudrais savoir comment vous avez abaisser l'arrière de la votre merci d'avance

  • hmmm curious as to what you did to lower the suspension on the damn thing. gotta agree with outlaw, hard to find parts for this bike lol

  • Shorter shocks, most commonly. Progressive 412 series shocks fit this bike. 14.25" is the stock size, but they also sell 13.5" and 13" shocks that lower it by (approximately) 1.5" and 2.5", respectively. I'll be purchasing one of these soon and will start customizing it almost immediately, and lowering the suspension on my list. I'll post video/slideshow eventually.

  • @chevythegreat : thanks for the tip on shorter stocks ( I have '83 VT500C) but wow 300 a piece! I guess it will be another couple years for me! lol

  • @mccluskeyc: YSS makes very similar shocks for about 200 a *pair*, I just found out. The $200/pair shocks (Bravo series) are regular hydraulic shocks with progressive-rate springs, but they have gas-emulsion shocks with progressive-rate springs (Eco series) for $300/pair. Just ask them for the length you want with 16mm x 20mm eyes top and bottom. For equivalent sizes to Progressive: 330mm = 13in, 340mm ~ 13.5in.

  • Good looking bike. i have a 85 vt500c, i love the bike but damn its hard to find parts for.

  • EBAY!

  • Beautiful bike!

  • is it possible that someone makes a replacement solo seat for this bike? i will be my first bike, and i can't stand the step on there now. thanks.

  • hey bro im sorry to bother ive seen this question alot but what kind of sportster shocks did you put on? and does it bottom out?

  • Did you lower the front any?

  • No i didn`t lowwer the front.

  • Hey were did you get that seat and how did you go about lowering it. Looks pretty good.

  • The seat: i removed everything, keept the seat base. Then i took some foam rubber from a mattress (about 2 inch thickness).Cut it so it fits the seat base, remember to put some plastic on top of it. I did take it to a saddler, but you can do it your self, just get some seat cover, attach it whith some staples. The shocks: they`r from a sportster, but i had to modyfy the anchorage for the shock on the right side.

Please ask if you have any questions.

  • Did you lower the front any. I really like the stance of your ride. I just picked up a 85 vt500 in as good of shape as yours. But i I dont like the look of it just stock. Also did you modify the exhaust any?

  • Hi! No i didn`t modify the exhaust. It`s hard to find aftermarked pipes for this bike.

  • what's the difference between a vt500c shadow and just a vt500c..? [or did they forget to put shadow into the name..?

    grtz

  • You got it alright! People takes it for granted that everybody knows it`s a Shadow.

So in full name: Honda Shadow VT500C is the correct name.

Thank you for your time watching my vid.

  • sweet ride man, she is a classic

  • Actually, I`m going to buy a Shadow myself.

Either 84 or 86 mod, I think the design is perfect. And I just love the reliabilty of Honda.

  • omg, this bike is perfect!

  • Thanks for the comment! Nice to get some feedback...
