I think that in the last albums Hackett has found a very good way of using his voice in his compositions, I definitely don't think he needs someone to sing in place of himself now. Anyway, he can make his guitar sing, this is his talent...

for some reason I have always liked his voice although many artists have also sung on his recordings. Steve walsh (kansas), ritchie havens, brenda russell, john wetton, to name a few

sorry, dont agree, I think his voice fits perfectly. Also you obviously haven't heard much steve hackett. Some singers on his recording include Randy Crawford, Richie Havens, Steve Walsh, and many more. you need to listen to more hackett!

First three albums by Hackett are the best. Why? Because he does not sing. I have heard, listened to all Hackett's albums. Including those with Genesis.

I recommend you strongly to get a copy of this album.

It's a very very great album believe me.

I know all other Hackett albums, and it has the level of Voyage of an acolyte, Defector.

But much more sophisticated, modern.

It's a very mixed bag of tracks on this album but overall it has enough fantastic stuff to make it a 'must-have' album for Hackett fans. It's probably some of his best vocal work and if you don't like it, too bad. I do agree that some songs need a better voice but mostly he seems to write songs that are suited to him.
