I think that in the last albums Hackett has found a very good way of using his voice in his compositions, I definitely don't think he needs someone to sing in place of himself now. Anyway, he can make his guitar sing, this is his talent...
I am a huge Steve Hackett fan. He has written some of the most beautiful music I've ever hear. One of my all time favorite albums is Spectral Mornings. However, being a fan I feel I can say that some songs do suit his voice and in some cases he has ruined a song by singing it.The Hermit is a beautiful piece of music that could have been better with another singer. I think his voice suits Rebecca.
FF57x0 - Can you PLEASE add "Brand New", its a Mini-Epic song and all the changes are so damn brilliant, would be great to see the Studio version up :) Thank you in advance :D
for some reason I have always liked his voice although many artists have also sung on his recordings. Steve walsh (kansas), ritchie havens, brenda russell, john wetton, to name a few
sorry, dont agree, I think his voice fits perfectly. Also you obviously haven't heard much steve hackett. Some singers on his recording include Randy Crawford, Richie Havens, Steve Walsh, and many more. you need to listen to more hackett!
First three albums by Hackett are the best. Why? Because he does not sing. I have heard, listened to all Hackett's albums. Including those with Genesis.
@MarisolForIob he's one of my all time favorite artists. When ever I talk to other people about him they say "who?" He's never gotten the cred or popularity he deserves.
It's a very mixed bag of tracks on this album but overall it has enough fantastic stuff to make it a 'must-have' album for Hackett fans. It's probably some of his best vocal work and if you don't like it, too bad. I do agree that some songs need a better voice but mostly he seems to write songs that are suited to him.

Guys, this song is based off the Gothic novel Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. Great book.

I'm a huge fan of Hackett-era Genesis and much of Steve's solo work. However, the bloke cannot sing! Let someone else take the vocals Steve!

Even Demis Rossous would sound pretty good with Hackett.

Jon Anderson would be a perfect voice for Steve Hackett, Maybe when YES stops touring he could hop on tour with Steve..

How much Hackett's music would gain if he stopped singing.
Why is so difficult to find a sweet voice that would fit into his music??

is there still anybody that says "Hackett was not important in genesis music?" Hackett was the "glue" who kept the quality of their music ensemble.
This song is a further confirmation of his greatness

never heard this Hackett song. Excellent. Any more from this album? I don't have it.

Hi jeff99az,
it's a pity.
I recommend you strongly to get a copy of this album.
It's a very very great album believe me.
I know all other Hackett albums, and it has the level of Voyage of an acolyte, Defector.
But much more sophisticated, modern.
Top album!!
