  • @TruthSeeker24 Roosevelt was obviously very compassionate and had a good heart just as I believe King wanted to do right. But they were both deceived by the philosophy they established. For instance, if the government provides everyone free healthcare, the quality of care will bottom out because insurance companies will no longer have any incentive for competitiveness. As far as food goes, just last week a couple in California was arrested for selling fresh farm vegetables.

  • @TruthSeeker24 King was obviously not a full-fledged communist. But, it's obvious from his association with communists and the tactics of massive civil disobedience that he used that he was heavily influenced by communism and did not see the danger in communism. He even admitted in an interview after being asked what influenced him that when he was in seminary, he read Marx and the "whole communist emphasis". He just didn't agree with the violent overthrow of government that Marx advocated.

  • @Sistarovat "King was obviously not a full-fledged communist. But, it's obvious from his association with communists and the tactics of massive civil disobedience that he used that he was heavily influenced by communism and did not see the danger in communism."

Do you think massive civil disobedience is a bad thing necessarily? The founding fathers just like any group that fought against the powers that be always created massive civil disobedience.

  • @TruthSeeker24 "Radical change is better than unregulated capitalism." I've lived in former communist Romania and I can assure you there is nothing desirable about radical change in that direction. By that statement, I gather you don't fully understand free enterprise, but that's another debate in and of itself.

  • @TruthSeeker24 "The government has every right to protect the rights of citizens federally, since back then many states used politices that violated federal Amendments." What federal amendments did they violate? Separate but unequal public facilities in states was an obvious violation of the Equal Protection clause of the 14th amendment, but cases like that were to be dealt with in court on a case-by-case basis.

  • This is the same argument of Goldwater. The government has every right to protect the rights of citizens federally, since back then many states used politices that violated federal Amendments. Equality should be given. It's about the federal government to establish true liberty nationwide since denial of equal rights spread across states. Evil across state lines can merit federal involvement. I dont believe in forcing equal outcomes, but using public means to help a human being if they need it.

  • @andyjohnD Obviously, no American citizen should be treated like a second-class citizen by the government based on ethnicity. But, that's not what the civil rights movement was about. The CRM started out that way, but devolved into a movement set on using the government as a means to force equality of outcome. The Constitution doesn't give the federal government the authority to assure that no one in this country be treated like a second class citizen by other citizens.

  • God bless mlk

  • REST IN PEACE JAMES EARL RAY!

  • @cjkirk231 The program director of the SCLC was a certain "Rev." Andrew Young. Young had been trained at the Highlander Folk School. Highlander was a communist training school in Monteagle, TN. It was founded in the 30s by Communist Party USA members Myles Horton and Don West. Furthermore, King himself attended a meeting at Highlander in 1957. The subject discussed was how to bring communism to the South. It was there that they resolved to tour the South staging riots and massive demonstrations.

  • @Sistarovat

I don't believe in Communism, but Dr. King publicly written and said in opposition to Communism. Dr. King never staged riots and that's a lie. Massive demonstration is part of the First Amendment. I don't agree with all of the policies of the HIghlander Folk School, but radical change is better than unregulated capitalism. Also, Dr. King rejected Communist acts explicitly.

  • @cjkirk231 MLK made the draft-dodging sexual pervert Bayard Rustin his personal secretary and close adviser. In 1936, Rustin joined the Young Communist League of NYC College. Rustin also attended the 16th Convention of the Communist Party, USA in February, 1957. He helped King found the SCLC. Fred Shuttlesworth was made vice-president. Shuttlesworth was also president of the communist front Southern Conference Educational Fund.

  • @Sistarovat

MLK and Rustin is controversy. I don't agree with Rustin's lax opposition to SAs apartheid, but no man is perfect. Yet, the larger argument of equal rights for all is accurate. Likewise, why don't you expose how the JBS slandered King. How, Hoover violated the civil liberties of human beings. Why don't you expose the reactionaries' crimes against humanity. Reactionary crimes against humanity is far worse than associations with Communists. I don't accept Communism either.

  • this what MLK was fighting for equal rights for all men,....ALL MEN and for any white or black man to say any thing opposit of that does have much up stirs too lazy to learn.....WHEN THEY SAY TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK...they mean go back before 1960s when the pay was sh** no health bennifitts they can fire you on ah dime it's part of their so call RIGHT TO WORK...

  • it's all put of the plan to divide this nation you watch and see how much media will bring racism in the seen close to thee election it's a set up the bring this country down ...

  • are we going to let the rich fool us to think its all racism

  • Wow,what a man may he rest in peace and be remembered throughout ages to come

  • I just wish he was here today. He would certainly straighten out the small racial issues we have now.

  • Beutiful and certainly one of a kind may he rest in peace and god bless his soul.

  • @kemokidding It's true MLK is considered a hero by a large swath of the population. But why do you think it is rightly so? What did he do that was so great? What did he ever accomplish (besides racial hatred and riots)? Have you ever studied up on this man or do you just "like" whoever the news media tells you to "like"?

  • @Sistarovat

Dr. King did a lot of things great. He help to pass civil rights and voting rights legislation to assist human beings. Dr. King made business and economic programs to help black people. He allowed the nation to have more compassion for the poor. He made successful boycott in America. He did many accomplishments. He promoted equality and didnt cause riots. He promoted peace and white racists hated him for it.

  • This man, King, is so extraordinary in his answers to these peoples subtle attempts to disqualify him that i dont even think that they in any way realized how morally and intellectually advanced his entire position was before them...i dont even know where to begin...just brilliant!!!

  • First time on Meet the Press. Aired April 17, 1960.

  • God bless Dr. King

  • This man did great things for America. I thank you for that Dr.King.

    Rest in Peace~

  • Getto

  • @asphyxiafeeling He's a historical celebrity. Just because someone is a historical celebrity, that makes them great? Just because Teddy Roosevelt is on Mount Rushmore doesn't mean his policies helped this country. The only reason we have a holiday in his honor is because the Democratic Party wanted to make King a celebrity so they could brainwash schoolchildren into believing in King's Leftist views and Reagan was too much of a coward to veto the bill.

  • @Sistarovat Dr King is considered a hero by a large swath of the population, and rightly so.

  • @asphyxiafeeling I can tell you have not done any research on MLK or Civil Rights. If Dr. King did not fight for civil rights it would be people like you who would try to keep Jim Crow laws going and keep minorities in the back of the bus not only in the literal sense but figuratively as well. Do research first & if you have a good point share. All you did is TRY to make an analogy on what you have heard someone, who is uneducated, say on the subject. It looks bad when you don't have facts!

  • @Sistarovat

How is it a sin to make health care avaliable for every America, to improve the environment, and to fight against poverty using public & private means. Teddy Roosevelt was wrong in the war situation, but he was right to promote safety standards in our food.

  • King was a fornicating, wife-cheating, lying, plagiarizing, unamerican Marxist. Nobody has ever accomplished more for the destruction of our Constitution in the name of "civil rights" than any other human being to have ever lived on the planet.

  • @Sistarovat

LOL. He's one of America's most admired leaders. We have a paid holiday in his honor.

If you despise Dr. King so much, I'd love to hear what you've got on George Washington & Abraham Lincoln!

  • @Sistarovat how is it a destruction to the constitution, to assure that no one in this country be treated like a 2nd class citizen based on ones skin color?

  • @Sistarovat

Just like Thomas Jefferson was a slave trading, fornicating, hypocritical, anti-Christian, and intellectual leader too. No man is perfect and Dr. King rejected Marxism for its anti-spiritual components. He did a lot for America. The Constitution has provisions to add amendments, so the civil rights and voting rights bills are constitutional.

  • The Greatest American. OCCUPY for MLKj

  • The press sure hasn't changed much.. Of course, the press doesn't express the untenable prejudices of the past. On the other hand, it remains, as always, a champion of official government agitprop and the status quo.

  • Dr. King, one of the sharpest minds, bravest souls, and biggest heart that human kind have seen. My respect and admiration.

  • wow . . . the negro race? 40 years later its amazing to see how civilizfed most have become.

  • who the twit with the hat

  • Left to these "reporters", we'd still be at the back of the bus!

He handled them well, though :)

  • This is long before we became "Black"! Let's not forget Malcom!!! -sjk

  • Man those reporters were assholes but Dr. King took em on like a champ

  • the more things change, the more they stay the same. The ignorance is still deeply rooted in our culture, it's just now married to familiarity and we all know that just breeds contempt. We as a species will either evolve past this petty bs or end up killing each other off. we're pretty pathetic at this point of our development.

  • What a great spokesman King was for civil rights in America. He predicted the movement would ultimately transform the whole of America. He was right.

  • I wonder if half the people commenting on this video have read any of King's work, or if they simply defend him because he's an historical celebrity.

  • @Th3Individual perhaps it had to do with his religious beliefs

  • I am not sure that I can stomach this. These white men are asking Dr. King about breaking the Law!!!? Give me a freaking break! I am getting sick listening to this interview.

  • Great shit, fuck black power, white power, and all that segregated shit. Were all together :]

  • @Th3Individual Well yeah..if someone said that they are going to knock me in the head...then I'll get a bat too..except that if there ever was true war in the streets(which there never REALLY was) blacks make up 15% of the population then...they would've lost had they just randomly attacked white people..which isn't what X condoned, but it IS how many took it. Remember for every 1 intelligent, charismatic man there are 10 idiots that can't think logically nor objectively..only subjectively.

  • Martin Luther King is encoded in the King James Bible several times.

See the Aimed At America 2 video for examples on youtube.

  • Wow, this is friggin awesome.

  • 31 years of age .....AMAZING.......WE NEED TO STEP UP MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.....BLACK POWER

  • @Th3Individual yep what did that achieve?

  • I bet those who questioned Dr. MLK went away so ashamed of themselves. Anyone else see the fear in their eyes and expressions? Thank you King for being you. You have given much to humanity. We miss you RIP

  • You know he was only 30 when he did this television program ?

  • "Private business has its own rights and can do what it wants" Funny how we're re-litigating that these days.

  • This approach is so typical of the so called intellectual, academic intelligensia, those in positions of power and authority (oppressors). they will spend all the time and energy talking, dicussing, debating, rather than real, true and lasting change. As then, so now. Matin is an expert interviewee.

  • Wow he answers the question with such grace and eloquence. Truly an intelligent man.

  • I wonder what Dr. King would make of America today...

  • Thank you for bringing the 1961 Meet The Press footage on King.

  • They chose the way of Martin because the way of Malcolm was a bloody one

  • wow the first questioner is a total racist.

  • a gem!

  • Its a shame you have to debate for civil rights.

  • Thought the passion and greatness of MLK jr.'s victory was gorgeous to see :)

  • @yanasty

What makes you think rights are ever just given??

  • @copyvio What exactly are you implying with this question?

  • Thank you!!! Very much... Sometimes we only hear the speeches but this allows us to she is casual demeanor even when he is in a debate.

  • Thank you so much for posting these!

Great quality and quite a find.

    Much appreciated!

  • Interesting posting!!

    Thanks.

  • i looked this up after reading about it in Parting the Waters, by Taylor Branch. I am in awe of King.

  • This is an great video, thanks for sharing!
