I made my helmet cam by designing a padded plastic case that screws onto my helmet. My digital camera fits into the case and is secured with a zip tie. I will post a picture/video of it on my blog this week.
You can do it with or without brakes, depending on how fast you want to ride down - going slower is easier on the bike. I have disc brakes and was applying very rapid quick pumps to both on the way down.

uh... you climb down the stairs slow to do the tricks or u are treating the bike nice so that you don't break anything?

did you apply the brakes when yoiu go down? Was your bike disk brakes or normal ones?
