  • i know it is unimportant but the RTM start button is fucking hideous

  • Hey! Well, I'm using Vista, I have an issue and I was wondering if you knew how to solve it... Do u know what to do so your WMV files shows the first frame from the video in the icon? I'd be so much easier for me to work with them because I'm making a movie atm.

    Thanks!

  • i love windows 7 to but i get shyt becuz i well dont get it even in 1 year

  • Im upgrading now :)

    hell yes

  • i love windows 7 plus i got it free :D

  • How did you get it for free?

  • will this have the moving desktop bg (dreamscape) that vista had?

  • i like the classic task bar... i hope you can switch between them

  • best os

  • My parents say if my bro breaks my computer, they'll get me a new one.... HURRY UP ALREADY!

  • wow, it's come a long way i think... this is the next break through like XP...

  • windows is truly "Life Without Walls".

  • macs are honestly life within walls

apples preset walls on the os

  • @Hunger4Power yes! i agree! windows is really life without walls. linux is like a hippy playground!

  • i think best windows ever

  • I'm sure there will be something to deal with that. Maybe not in Windows 7, but somewhere on the web. :\

  • you could make it smaller =/

  • get msn plus so your convos would be tabbed

  • I've tried it,and i never go back to vista!

  • Liar, you never used Vista.

  • You can tell it not too.

I thought it was really stupid to take away the text that tells you what your windows represent.

But you can bring it back

It is a setting in the task bar prop. (win7 RC)

  • 7's new features are worthless if you ask me.. Its nothing but fancy thumbnails and slower switching around stuff.. The speed optimization is good though, and i think its good for microsoft that alot of people like 7, so they wont have to stick by vistas bad name (even though vista is a fine os!)

  • What about the "directories" feature? Where you can put a music file on an external hard drive and you can still see it in the standard Music folder?

I'd say that saves some time copying all that music to your music folder.

  • Does the torrent-downloded builds of Windows 7 work forever? D: (I mean, at least Build 7057)

  • No, they deactivate in August. You wouldn't want them anyway, as you will never be able to update them.

  • Windows 7 is totally worth it, people who don't give this a chance probably haven't even used it. I tried windows 7 and it works like a charm.

  • I agree. It is pretty bad-ass.

  • I agree, it seems that the only people bashing w7 are the people who haven't actually taken the time to use it. you really can't get a feel for an OS unless you sit down and use it. i've loved my experience with it and even though i liked vista, w7 blows it out of the water. ive installed it on my laptop and now also both of my parents laptops, and it is working like a charm on all 3

  • @sooBored78 True. I love Windows 7. Microsoft did a really good job on Windows 7. It's as beautiful as Vista (even more beautiful actually) and great to use as XP was.

  • i have windows XP ultimate now and i think ill stay with that

  • yea, and xp ultimate exists...

You mean windows vista ultimate or xp professional?

  • XP ultimate?..the one created by Johnny?..so, how is it..

  • does anyone knows how to make my windows 7100 look all transparent....need help for that

  • aero?..is that what you're looking for...if so then you have to upgrade your computer in order to enable the aero feature..

  • You need to have aero enabled and to have Aero enabled it requires a compatible graphic card. However, unlike Vista, Microsoft has made the system much less picky. Try going to windows update. Then in go to Personalization in the Control Panel and select Theme. In Theme, select Aero (make sure you click the transparency checkbox)

  • I have win 7 7100 too and my windows cant run aero , i have 1 gb ram 1.8ghz , sigh;-<

  • Its about the gfx card you moron

  • What he meant to say was: Your processor speed and ram size is of lesser importance than your graphics card, my friend.

  • update you pc rate and you can run i did thath and i run aero now

  • Its Probably Your Video Card, I Ran It On A Computer With Good Ram But Poor Video Ram.

  • I always use windows OS. the architecture is really good more than other (for me). this beta version too. currently I'm using this beta W7 beta. I feel more faster than vista

  • i think for me microsoft are a bit late....they lost many long time users like myself to mac and linux.

  • i don't understand why windows 7 beta is free...

why is it free? is it for a limited time? does it expire? is it a trial offer? come on its microsoft and there's no way they'd let people download anything for FREE...

    O_o please someone explain...

  • It is free and expires 1 May 2010 afaik. This makes perfectly sense because Microsoft makes most of its money from OEM and business sales and OEMs and businesses of course don't distribute or use an OS that is beta.

But they get the beta for free in order to test it out, ensure compatibility with their upcoming systems and current environments so that, at the time the final version is released, there's (in the best case) no problems with migrating to the new OS.

  • Moreover, distributing the beta for free means more people downloading and testing it and thus more bugs can be found and fixed.

  • And when you encourage users to test out the OS, there's a much greater chance they'll be a purchaser when the final comes out.

  • a free download verson until June 1, 2010 then you'll have to buy the full version

  • Are you retarded? it clearly says BETA in the name.

  • this video is of the beta. but now its RC. the beta is about to stop working in july i think.

  • Windows Seven sure is cool. I can't wait for it to go into the market so I can replace my windows vista

  • you can download it now for free and its post-beta. it works fine for me. much better than vista.

  • can i download this for FREE

  • You can brother or sister go to mininova(dot)org and search for windows 7

  • I've downloaded the evaluation copy :D

    works fine

    funny features btw...

  • god man, i wish they released it this year not next year, i cant wait, and i dont like beta's

  • but good beta

  • i love windows 7 its cool than vista more smooth

  • I have Windows 7 beta, and i had vista for a few weeks.

Win.7 is much much better than vista (also faster :) yey!)

But Mac OS X is much much better than windows 7.

I only use mac osx now

  • I can't wait till it is ready to go on the market. I have tried beta and i was very happy with it. It should be a big improvement from windows vista.

  • Ya, I tried the beta too. It's very nice.

  • new build 7057 check my video for details!!!!

  • The networking capabilities look great. I'm really expanding my system (HP) and I was kind of worried about having to run cables all over the place, great job MS.

  • arh...can't wait!

a question, does beta 7k runs game like pop2008 and ass creed?

perhaps I can install the beta 7k tomorrow on my tablet notebook.

  • It's great they're improving home networking, but she seems to show exmaples of it using windows 7 pc only. I'de like to see home network where xp, vista and win 7 can work just as flowlessly as they've presented. Home users (some if not all) do run multi OS on many computers and laptops as I do.

  • your telling me.... First install I was shocked at how well things worked in the beta. The simple fact of the slide show wallpaper was feature that made me want to jump up and down with joy. The speed and looks and features where all far better than vista.

  • windows 7 has the body of vista and the heart of xp

    heart: stability, security

    body: appareance, funcionality

  • Windows 7 is like Windows Xp for its time: MS getting it right. At least relative to Windows as we've come to know it.

Vista was a flop, simply because it came out of the gate with 64-bit driver issues, is a memory hog, and many computers and especially laptops selling with Vista didn't have the memory to run it well.

Windows 7 is still the Vista core, but it's compatibility management and lower "LOOK! GRAPHICS!" factor make it quicker. I like it. Should be a free update for Vista owners.

  • I'd say that Vista was a beta for Windows 7

  • All PCs bought with a Windows Vista license on or after July 1, 2009 to January 1, 2010 qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 7.However OEM only and OEMs can shorten it.Hope that explains it.Damn i wish I worked at Microsoft and created the ultimate Windows Version but I'm only 12.

  • Thats pretty dumb what you said windows vista is the bomb, just because you are lazy to customize or look,or just because u are 2 into xp and can't get over the new tech, stop dissing vista, i have a 5 gb comp 64 bit graphics, and vista and runs so fast, and I customized myself, vista is all about you controlling the comp, not the comp you,you type the program to find faster, instead of xp scroll and if you deleted it then u never see it again

  • seems like they're trying a little to hard, hopefully this will replace all vista in retail laptops b4 summer

  • 94, me, xp, vista, and now 7.. just shut up already.. type-writer served me best! lol

  • I don't think they will finish with Vista. I think this is what they will be using for the newest working os

    PS i have vista homebasic

  • ok, so Vista was a flop. Now Windows 7 is coming out, which, is suppose to be "better". I just bought Vista not too long ago; does that mean I get Windows 7 at a discounted price?

  • You get the update price. But XP users get it too. IMHO those who didn't switch to Vista should not get a discount, or the Vista users should get it even cheaper...

Well, I also bought Vista and I've been happy until Windows 7 came :)

    Vista is okay, after all.

  • this is true. Since SP1, it's not bad with a few tweaks. No reason to buy or upgrade imho, but no reason to replace if you have vista. Or well, no reason until 7 ;)

  • im thinkin microsoft got this one right

  • You know dude. Windows is everywhere. In every bussiness, school etc. You don't see no lepard on outside of your home.

  • i do, both tiger and leopard

  • it's clearly better then Vista, but.,..

  • You cant call someone a virgin if they have already had sex can you?

You cant say "I had sex with a virgin last night", if she has already had sex, but just had bigger boobs.

There is an analogy anyone could understand.

Listen dude, im not a windows hater, nor am i a windows fanboy. I use Vista, i use Ubuntu.

  • lol I really don't get that.

Well, it's like that: He said it was "brand new", you said it was the "same".

You both were wrong. Well, you were closer, but still wrong.

If you change the code and give it a new version number, it's obviously not the same thing anymore.

  • vista is bunch of crap, xp is great. Vista is just a lousy more pretty upgrade of XP, just like win2000 were upgrade of win98

...I must try Win7 it's pretty like Vista but has brand new kernel and it doesn't take so much RAM like XP and Vista

  • Uhhh... nope. Vista and Windows 7 will have the same kernel. Look it up.

  • Wrong. Microsoft has actually made lots of changes to the kernel.

Mainly speed optimizations but also new features for multi-core support, memory management and so on.

They even included parts of MinWin, but it's not clear why (perhaps it's the beginning of the transition to a new base system).

It is NOT a completely new kernel (like people thought a year ago when they showed MinWin) but it is also NOT the same kernel as the Vista one because there's lots of improvements/changes.

  • Read your own post. You said "brand new kernel". End of discussion.

You obviously are not a programmer. If something has modifications to it, its not 'new', its a different build or revision.

  • Wrong poster, but my point still stands.

When you make modifications to something, you cant call it brand new, its a new revision, or build.

  • A "new revision" is not the same thing, but you said it was "the same kernel". And that's wrong. It's based on the same kernel, but it is not the same.

Also, I already pointed out that it's wrong to say it's "brand new".

But it's not the same either.

  • Still does not exceed IU Linux/Xgl... but are on right way this time!

  • This will change the computer world and yeah fuck vista and hail windows 7

  • this sux.

It's like the switch from dos to win 95 now its xp to vista and windows 7

  • i just want the up button in the windows explorer... is that soo hard?? ):

  • Why? The up button is useless, you can just click on any folder in the adress bar. That lets you even go up multiple folders with just one click and you can directly click on the folder you want to go to.

  • I've been using it for a couple weeks and I love it! very stable and fast and it's only a beta! can't wait for the final release.

  • I think that this fancy look and nothing else would fail to attract customers just as Vista. Although I have computer powerful enough to run Windows Vista, I feel cheated to let my OS eat that amount of RAM and not doing anything useful. I would rather choose Ubuntu Linux, it have all those fancy things, just as this, and maybe nicer, but running on my old PC on only 1GHz and with only 384Mbytes of SD RAM.

  • gentlemens i really wouldnt mind w7 if they would pay me for my vista ultimate.because of couple of handy quick launch ! bars pay say another 200 e or somethin again.(just another money colection time).how much diference iz there between xp and vista,,,,vista and win 7??? no serios reasons why we should get it!! so id say i chill out vith vista for another 3 years...respect(im sick of that stupid weekly renovation era)

  • Windows Vista FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • don't get me wrong, i love windows and i love real PCs, but this woman needs a lesson or two from steve jobs on how to sell a product.

  • Agree. 'Super-easy!'

  • i don't see what the problem is, ive had vista for a long time and i have never had one problem. ive had more problems with xp!

  • windows 7= raw ownage

  • mac is a way better.. windows just makes it complicated..|-)

  • At least Windows 7 makes everything a lot easier than previous Windows versions ;-)

  • your just to stupid to learn how to use it

mac's are for people who don't know how to use a computer

  • Unfortunately there's plenty of people who don't know how to use a computer.

I'd even say most people don't know how to use a computer and they're too lazy to learn it unfortunately.

  • Who are you takling about? I hope not about me...best software are apple & linux. apple is pretty & everything is already set & linux, well if u r a good programmer you can do it your way ( i'm trying to do some stuff : p)

  • I am sure if you get someone new to computers & give them a PC for an hour & then a Mac for an hour. They would find the PC more accessable. If you want something done quick & easy, you use a PC, if you want something done well & to the point of perfection, you use a Mac

    That is what I believe.

  • and to do both - Linux.

  • Very Well Said. I Agree.

  • Too much simplicity means dumbing things down. Less user control.

XP in classic mode looks ten times cleaner than most OSs.. which are cluttered with useless animations everywhere.

  • People like animations - it's just the truth. We're not robots; we like eye candy.

  • It's not just that we like animations, but animations also shoe that something is happening.

For example, the minimize animation shows you where your windows are going when you click minimize.

The launch animations show that everything runs smooth and the application launches as it should.

Seeing how the screen redraws itself makes us nervous and degrades the user experience. Animations show that everything is okay.

Animations are important, they show us what's happening.

  • You dont need eye candy , you need good design, and that doesnt depend on eye candy.

  • everyone go to my video if you want to remove your watermark on windows 7 in my videos description it will work

  • ive got windows 7 beta and its soo good and soo smooth to use....

  • I wanted to see some performance or GUI improvements, I have done most of these using just Rocket Dock, Taskbar Shuffle and a couple of free utils. on Vista.

  • yea this is gonna be nice ! :D no more bugs from vista, just XP xperience, just even better :D

  • Yes, it looks good, but will it actually WORK on a daily basis? Isn't this the problem with Microsoft-based software? A presentation is one thing, but heavy using of this OS is a different thing altogether...

  • I only just realised that Windows XP doesn't let you drag and drop window list items. I do it all the time on linux :)

  • mac sucks..windows 7 OWNS!

  • Mac doesn't sucks since Windows 7 owns on Mac too ;-)

Seriously, what's the point of saying Mac (hardware) sucks just because you see a new software (witch can run on Macs...)?

  • because you pay double the money for a computer with less hardware spec than a pc for the same price so you dont have to use windows then you end up using it anyways

  • windows vista sucks mac os x owns vista and windows 95. windows 7 owns mac os x

  • OS X is too old

  • So with most of the people owing an iPod for Music, they didn't add support for iPod in Widows Media Player? And another thing, she always says something about innovation, but Mac and Linux always had this. I guess "gadgets" is totatly different from "widgets." Jesus, microsoft I don't mind you using ideas for other OS's but at least don't say it's innovation. There is nothing innovatino about the "Library" or a "New Windows media Layer." OMG! They got a search panel to search and fillter! W.O.W

  • err... widgets have not been invented by Apple. In fact, they come from Konfabulator and Microsoft showed their widgets/gadgets concept before Apple did.

And the search panel... andothe invention from Microsoft Research. Copied by Apple.

The libraries - also a new concept the way they're implemented in Windows 7 - just the sidebar in Explorer comes from OS X.

They can't add support for the iPod as long as Apple doesn't allow that. It's Apple's fault, they want the iPod to be iTunes-only.

  • Give me the link to the actual expert saying or writing whatever you just wrote to me. I don't take people serious on the internet like you. Not because I think you are retarded but any "Joe Shmoe" could of just said the same thing. I will only accept that if you show me (non-biased, and accurate by licensed professionals) were you exactly got this information. (your sources) If I see a"non-biased" expert with something like a Ph.D in Computer Engineering than I'll accept your ideas. I am sorry.

  • I'm not biased at all. I'm a Mac user at home and a Windows 7 Tablet PC user "on the road".

That stupid discussion about who copied what just led me to do some research.

Of course, there are things in Windows that were copied.

But lots of things people talk about are original inventions from Microsoft that could be copied by others because Vista has been delayed.

Desktop search, widgets and desktop effects (the idea, which has led to compiz/beryl) are only a few examples.

  • And people who are able to see similarities between Windows 7 and KDE or OS X should also be able to detect the similarities between stacks and toolbars, coverflow and picture preview and timemachine and windows backup/shadow copy.

Although the Mac versions of those features are better, they have been in Windows first.

It's not a one-way street and it doesn't matter at all.

The only thing that matters is how those features work.

  • "super easy" 'Microsoft'

    "boom" 'apple'

    XD

  • Looks like vista work like xp bu better than both xD

  • it looks like W7 will have alot of potential but it will be a HUGE change for the users still scared of getting off XP. i wish them luck.....sorry mum

  • I'm using the Windows 7 beta right now and it is amazing, it's basically done, no problems and very fast. I cannot wait until it is released!

  • Super Easy! Nah, for real yo, Super Easy! LOL

New drinking game: take a drink every time she says easy or super easy.

  • thanks for making me fat lol

  • VISTA forever....i mean Microsoft should have let people to get sateld with Vista for a couple of years like the did with XP....lots of people stil didnt even switch to Vista.

  • i'm still not convinced.

  • So what are you expecting?

At least, according to various surveys, roughly 60-70% of those you got the beta for testing are going to switch to Windows 7.

    Seems to be convincing...

  • Hey, im confused what windows 7 is.. is like windows xp, vista and now this?

  • its like vista but works like xp but its better than both ;D

  • Including me. I've been using it for 2 days now and haven't even touched Vista or XP since. I was expecting a buggy broken build but I haven't actually had any problems with it so far.

  • so you'r sayin that all the programs you need are working on W7 and it's almost just like you were using the final version of it? if it's true, i will also switch to w7

  • this reply doesn't work correctly, this comment supposed to be a reply .sorry for that folks

  • they need to make the recycle bin movable

  • What do you mean by that? Moving the icon or the folder location?

It's pretty much impossible to move the folder location, that could lead to security and stability problems.

  • u cant move the folder location only ur drive

  • one thing to say... expose!

  • Not really. Expose works only with the windows you have open on your desktop. So, the ones that are minimized to the Dock don't get the Expose treatment. This feature in WIndows 7 shows the windows whether they are open or your desktop or minimized.

  • XP is the best!!!!!!!!^^

  • super easy *giggle*

  • Well, I've put up a review on win 7 on my blog, but it's nice to see it in action. Although the chick seems to not really know what she's doing :P

  • yea she definitely ruined the presentation. windows 7 seems awesome though, check out the beta for free from microsoft

  • I already have this on my gaming computer its like awesome still got some bugs but ya you can download the beta from ms site

  • i got a fatal error trying to install windows 7! look 4 it in my channel!

  • No thx. I think i'll stick to XP.

  • if you guys wanna seeee a demo of this os come and see my vid

  • If you're not stupid: none, you won't get viruses (unless you download suspicious/illegal stuff).

  • In other words for people that complain on viruses, and think a Mac or a Linux would save them they are the ones that don't have common sense.

  • No in other words viruses are not a reason to switch to Linux or OS X unless you really need complete safety.

I mean complete safety from viruses. OS X is pretty vulnerable for hacking (Linux not).

  • Anybody that bought Vista is a tool, should have waited for Windows 7

  • why? Anybody who bought Vista had a very good OS for the last 2 years (given his hardware was strong enough).

  • Wow, just got done installing and updating my driver system. I must say I'm highly impressed! The visual styles are just amazing and my benchmark test are off the charts with my AMD Turion64, over 236% better than Vista SP2. Good Job! And the touch screen is totally cool!!

  • I am downloading the beta version now. Not a bad file size either. From what I can see is it seems to pack quite a punch, allowing users to customize the interface to their liking, and various other elements. I'm sure there is much more to it than just the windows task bar lol. :) Wonder if the beta is going to be a timed beta, or a free to keep version for your efforts of debugging and participation in the program. Couldn't find anything clarifying this. Anybody here know? Thank you :-D

  • I just bought vista ultimate....

  • LMFAO

  • LOL

  • So true, man. I'm glad they actually listened to people though.

  • The main purpose of Windows 7 IS EXACTLY to make it FASTER and CRASHPROOF.

The taskbar is nice, but Windows 7 is a whole lot more than a taskbar.

  • i dont like this thing about accessing other computers in ur home, someone might have porn :P lol

  • if that someone clicks on the "share my porn" button...

  • wow, i really like the new taskbar

  • She's such a bad spokeswoman.

    She stutters like every minute.

  • you would be nervous too if you were filmed throughout the globe announcing a new product from a multi billion company.

    don't be a douche.

  • your right id like to see them up there with no communications or social skills at that to be up there..........lol fucken haters at least that lady had the tits to get up there

  • xp was better than vista

  • Not at all. It was FASTER than Vista but nothing else.

  • Once you've tried a mac, you'll never go back

  • you're right

  • sure you will... i wana play settlers 3, unreal tournament 3,crysis ect and all high res and aa turned on without paying 3000$+ for a low end component computer! thats why ill take a custom built pc with nvidia 280 gtx, intel q6600 overclock to 3.5, ultra sli board,4gb ddr 3 ram and ill get it cheeper than a mac! and i can put os x on it! ideneb, iatkos ect. ill never go expensive mac with same hardware i can buy for 70% less price!
