  • I dig different Art styles but why do I get the sense that Mr vonGloeden is/was a perv.

Sorry Australians but maybe they are worried they'll get sued for compensation, by the many aboriginals whose photos have been printed on NG through out the years,

  • whats the song in the beginning?

  • May I ask WHY are the last 2 videos blocked in my country

  • Love channel

  • Oh, what a gift to us all!

  • Love this.

  • I wish I worked for National Geographic. :]

  • this chanell sucks ass they block there vids from australian viewers well fuck you im not buying your magazines no more

  • great video, thanks kindly for sharing, cheers

  • a true time machine indeed.

  • I think a lot could be learned from some of those photos from an anthropological perspective. Maybe they should create some sort of digital archives for college libraries and the likes.

  • super channel, mais je ne comprends rien du tout Anglais

  • black & white / sepia photos are great

  • the intro beat is awesome. love funk / soul / jazz

  • why so many videos blocked in the UK NatGeo? some look so interesting.

  • i got that book for christmas :)

  • Wow, breathtaking & beautiful.This is a great video.

  • i love you national geographic

  • These also look to me to have historical value, not just artistic appeal.

  • this is amazing! i love looking at the pictures, the design, the pose and omg, i love everything!

  • I never knew Howie Mandel was such an expert on old photographs

  • i LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE looking @ old n vintage fotos :)

  • are these in calendars?

  • Amazing Collection

  • I bet National geographics has pictures of Jesus christ..

  • @RgZspotA hahahaha

  • My favorite pastime, before I could read, was to browse through my grandfather's collection from the early 1900s issues.

  • Love this, where do i watch the full version??

It's my dream job to become one of those photographers.

  • I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work for National Geographic!!!

  • Lynne,

You know national geographic has a good reputation worldwide but they don't pay most of the interns people just want the name of the instution on their resumé and they know this. You will have access the the archives except the digitized that they know isn't worth much.

that being said the collection of early 1900s shots are the nice.I love them.

  • I would so like to have at least one group photo of these.

Any ideas where I could download them?

  • @Merdam9

Sure you don't need to go buy an extra hard drive before you start downloading 11.5 million pictures? :P

  • 3:08 Grecian?!?

    I though it is GREEK...

  • Can I download these anywhere?

  • lolol he refers to the pic at 3:15 as a boy and girl ..

  • I'd like to hear more from Maura M.

rather than seeing her used as the straight man

    for smug platitudes.

SHE appears to have something to say.

  • The jazz soundtrack is perfect for this.

  • The commentator should be a politician.

He uses far too many words

    to express the painfully obvious.

    Some wonderful photographs, though.

  • I bought the National Geographic Image Collection. It is a awsome book. It is worth every penny. Alought the book has only 450 photos which is still alot.

  • I got a new appreciation for photography from this video

  • NG should organize an lottery via their website and give a nice print of one of old photographs to one person every month.

  • I just hope that high quality digital scans will be made of all of them & maybe made available in the internet. Even if not published, I still wish they would scan them. It makes me nervous to think that only one copy of these priceless photos exists.

  • National Geographic should digitalize all the pictures and release them under the creative commons license.

  • What? Just being able to paint or draw doesn't automatically make you a great artist, what makes a great artist is the composition of the image.

  • 11.5 millions photos !! Can I See them all !! :)

    wow !!

  • @tverskoe she said 11.5 billion

  • she said MILLION. 11.5 billion.. thats like impossible amount to work with. Imagine all the storage you would need for just 1 billion.. not to mention the other 10.5billion.. she said million dood

  • What beauties!

  • I've always had a interest and appreciation for photography.Thats why I want to become a photojournalist.

  • thats interesting

  • if you hate art, why did you bother watching this video and commenting on it?

    O_O

  • I heart National Geographic- such beautiful images

  • awesome!!!!

  • But not any idiot can shoot a crossbow accurately or efficiently.

Not everyone can aim a camera the right way, or judge light correctly, or use the right lens, or the right style of photography. There's so many variables and this is why few people take GOOD photographs.

  • a good photography is a piece of art. a normal photography is just a photo, an imortalization of a moment.

  • cause you know everything there is to cameras right? all the special settings even basic things like how long the shutter is open. your a fool

why do you think National Geographic has is still around, its not just the articles but the amazing photographs to go with them

  • @BonScottAC

You would fail even a basic photography class.

  • Real interesting. I love stuff like this.

  • lol

  • @babtothebone > hallo, what ist it "lol", that di you mind with it?. I am no from England or US and I dont understand this. Thanks
