@Retrovibes On the t-shirt you can see that it says "staniel cay yacht club", which is in the Bahamas. Nothing "fag" about that.
On topic, the epoc looks pretty interesting from a developers perspective; at least there's potential for future applications. It can interpret conscious and non-conscious thoughts, emotions and detect a range of emotions - pretty impressive.
@MrBaanaana Reaction time is dependent on the amount of time used on training the software to your brain. The more you train it to recognize your brain, the faster it will react. And yes, it can emulate a full keyboard and mouse! I recommend using a video headset and setting the built-in Gyroscope as the mouse.
It is no longer necessary to use electrodes to monitor brain function at a distance. After Delgado's experiments in the 1950s, began to use a model for EEG biometrics at a distance that allows the individuation and activation of mental functions to different individuals, and distance, without electrodes. Details are on this site that deals with the physical control of the mind so scientific and objective. sites.google.com/site/controlemental
why do they use their hands if you can use your mind.. its anoying and pointless.. makes it look like a wii or that stupid thing we had on playstation with the camera only noobs would buy...
@maksenDK Agree with you - I think doing gestures is due to either our primitive brains or our lack of ability to focus. But little by little when practicing these types of things, our brains will "work out" and get stronger so people wont feel like they need to do gestures.
I think that its more to sell the product than nething else. I ran into a similiar problem with the biofeedback community for wilddivine--- That uses finger sensors that picks up heart coherence exct. What i learned however is that you DO NOT need the physical aspect of the body to train these things to effect the programs. I wopuldnt even say that youyr mind is doing it either, but moreso the intensity of your will or ability to trigger the relax response.
I'll be getting one soon and am looking forward to proving a few theories of my own. Im convinced that the emotional body of the individual is the true orchestrator of the body and physical actions, only that ppl have lost perception of this more "subtle" body, as mystics have called it. Not sure if youre familiar with the wild divine or not, but ive asked around and havent met ne1 there who could fire near 30 bullseyes in the archery mini game in under 10 minutes. Not to brag,
@brazzbazz lol not much difference really, kinect isnt going to make people healthy or fitter either. Do you know anyone that can say they lost 10kg by using the Wii Fit?
@00MrPanda00 I agree on that point. I'm just waiting for someone to create software that will allow the headset to record multiple commands better, so I can have a command to walk in different directions; while performing other tasks.
what an illusion! they claim that this device reads your mind like "I wanna lift the rock" and than the rock is rising, but in deed the game tells you to concentrate (on whatever not necesarily lifting a rock) and than the just lift the rock, because it was programed that way. This Interface is just controlled by your level of stress, relaxing or concentration. Actually it is a lie to claim that it reads your mind. In fact it is just a lie-detection software combined with a xbox.
@Shasty2000 The Emotiv Epoc is a device for Electroencephalography. The only difference is that it is designed for portability and ease of use. It records the electrical activity along the scalp produced by the firing of neurons within the brain. At first, you have to go through a series of training simulations so that the software can map the neural activity of your brain for each specific command. Look it up on wikipedia. DARPA invested $4 million in this research in 2009 for U.S. soldiers.
@Shasty2000 Please do your research before posting lies and opinions as fact. Not only is this not only for xbox but it is also displayed to be usable in any situation that can be mapped and read and does allow you to do multiple actions in different orders and speeds.
@Shasty2000 sounds like someone bought the $299 consumer headset and not the $750 research edition with dev headset to see their brain activity in real time.
@TheMoneyKing1991 Of what gmac from Emotiv says. They don't have a USB Driver system for the consoles yet. They simply haven't looked into it, yet. So, for the time being, it's PC only. You can check the app GlovePie from Carl Kenner. It's emulates most controllers.
