RSS was against Indra Gandhi that time because of getting support from BJP and Shiv Sena leaders. Some of RSS members were jailed but they estabilished theri network in Jail and continued their operations to unite Hindus by killing minorities or merging them into Hindus. I agree with you about the origin of the term Hindu, but it's hard for me to refer to the greater group without mentioning individual sects such as Sanatana Dharm...

I know that it's a nationalist movement and began as purely secular, but there are religious strains within the various movements that are trying to subvert Sikhi.

Some Sikh historians, who are worried of the references made to the Hindu gods by Guru Govind Singh therein, go so far as to question its authenticity. However the authenticity of the same has been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, by countless historians.
