I was out as a gay ftm transdood in high school. Other than some rude questions about my personal life, wasn't that big a deal. Another straight transguy made out with his gf in the halways, most ppl said was ew. *shrugs* I'm a friggin' ninja but I personally think it's better to be out than to go uber stealth.
Trans people should take a different root. the truth is, like the rest of the LGBT community, people have already made up their minds and will not accept trans people. the less they hear about it, the less they will protest against it. public demonstrations are not the way to go, shoving it in to the public eye is not the way to go, trans people could post links to people that need to hear what the trans have to say, and have the community bombard them with letters.
This is a great video! Being stealth vs out has definitely been on my mind a lot lately... how do you feel about outing yourself vs getting outed by friends and others you know? What about the timing of your disclosures — is it one of the first things you tell people when you meet them? Or do you wait until you've hung out a few times? Thanks for all the great content!

I think there IS a choice. Because saying you have to be out to be an activist is saying that an ally can never be an activist. I am a small activist, but I can educate people about trans-topics (and gay topics) without disclosing my own status.
I understand where you're coming from, definitely, and a "face" is important, but you can still be stealth and an activist, I think.
Being trans is a gift. I definetly feel like a ninja spy every day of my life being able to see how men are without a woman around, and to have also had the experience of being a woman around women. However in order for us to gain rights I don't see it as a visiblity thing, I see it as more of an overall acceptance by society to see there are more than two genders or that one person can go such a thing. Western culture is so phallus driven (you see it in sex too) that is a battle all its own.
I have choosen not to be Stealth for only one reason because someone must sacrifice before progress.I have choosen to be out to make it easier for the next generation. We will have our day one day even if I had to die for it. we are all equal and all have the same power to change the world I will do my best with the music I write, the people I help and the love I share.
I have chosen to fight against racism there is still a hole lot of work to be done. And if people still can not get over skin color, and even in the lgbt community there is racism, it's going to be damn hard work for trans rights. Equality for every one lgbt, white, black, asians, middle eastern, all the native people of the world you get the point. Muslims aren't are enemy hate is. REPARATIONS!!! Free education, free medical and free therapy for hundreds of years of being beaten down.
I agree we are behind like 20 or 30 years. And what you said about putting a face to the community and specking up if we don't we are not going to get any where with anti discrimination laws, health care, and not being in the DSM. And that's why I am glad there are people like you doing some thing and encouraging people to do some thing.
Whenever someone says "OMG I've never met one of you before," I always reply with "That you know of." :) I love that you referred to the trans experience as a gift. Despite all the potential pitfalls & tribulations I totally have to agree with you on that one. What a wild ride!

You are really on a roll of making provocative videos! I think that putting out these viewpoints are long overdue. Lloyd
