  • You look like Miranda Kerr in a way, no joke! Great video, thanks for posting. I love your channel and I just subscribed today!!

  • Waow, I wish I could get you to come and hunt down my split ends, haha... I still am not sure what they look like on my hair!

If I get a section of hair the ends all look different lengths... so it looks like there are loads of splits... but if I just take one single little hair it doesn't seem split! Does this just mean that it's split all the way up already? My hair is recovering from quite a bit of damage so could that be the case?

  • I always do this when I'm bored...lol

  • when i cut it, another white thing comes up

  • @KKfangurl Your scissors may be too dull. You should get new one's specifically made for cutting hair.

  • I have loads of those white 'dots' you mentioned in my hair, I was wondering what the cause of those are? And how can I prevent them?

  • @XTaylaaX when your hair is really damaged they split and if unattented your hair breaks off and drys up(why its white) and it forms a knot at the end of you hair where it falls down :P prevent them by eating healthy and drinkingLOTS of water, or you can coat the ends or your hairs in olive oil/moisturizer not too much though!!

  • I learned about S&D in LHC, and it's very useful, but it's an exhausting job with very long, very fine hair such as mine...But I have to agree, it's a rather relaxing activity :).

  • Has anyone ever told you you look like Emma Stone? o_o Amazing resemblance.

  • JIj bent gaaf, ik ga jouw volgen

  • it is SEEK & destroy ;D

    (from the great Metallica)

  • @MisterAlternatif

hahah and search and destroy by 30 seconds to mars

  • i got split ends but they're lots of little tiny ones i used to have soooo many dots but then i got my hair cut about an inch and a half and it looks and feels alot betteer now but the trouble with cutting my split ends are they get lost easily in my hair =P

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! for this video <3

  • Als ik dat allemaal af zou moeten knippen kan ik mij net zo goed kaal scheren ._.

  • That's really helpful but here's a tip :) : do it while ur hair is wet because if u do it wen it's dry it might end up making ur hair more damaged for some hair types. Just wanted to help I love ur vids btw just saw them today

  • Wow. I've been doing this for weeks. I didn't know if it was a good idea or not...but then I saw this video and was like OMG, THAT'S WHAT I DO. I've just kind of been searching and destroying without any real method. Thanks!

  • Thank you so much!

Can you tell me how often you shampoo and how often you oil your hair with coconut oil?

  • Comment removed

  • Where did you buy your scissors???

  • hi i enjoy many of your video's! Please, how do I get rid of the knots that form in the back/under layer of my hair! It's like a bird's nest when I wear it out for a few hours. My hair is very fine, and I want to grow it but these knots just make me want to cut it all off!

i've always had knotting issues as long as i can remember!

  • Hey, this is a great video!! After four days searching an destroying, my hair looks very much more shiny. I do this in the evening by watching Tv or everytime when I feel a little bored. Your are right it is worth it!

  • wow... i wish i could've found this video MONTHS ago! my hair is completely damaged and i had no idea the splits can go UP o.o thank you so much! should i cut them when my hair is wet or dry?

  • i did this today iv ben trying to grow out my hair and split ends were my enemy!!!!! ur awsome im a huge fan of urs u new video should be on threading eye brows and then skin care and music! i would like to know what pep from netherlands lesson to =)

  • Hi just wanted to say a big thank you for your tutuorials which are both helpful and informative! My hair is about the same length as yours but can't seem to get past this point as I feel the need for a cut every 2-3 months. I once left it six months before cutting and a whole 3 inches had to come off!!! Ouch! So I am going to try and go 4 months without a trim this time but I will follow your advice about cutting out the split ends and see if that will make a difference. Thanx for the vids! xx

  • her hair doesn't look like "bed head" AT ALL, she's lucky she can just wash, condition, oil a little bit and look this gorgeous! She doesn't need heat to make her hair look good, and many people wouldn't have this "need" if they learned different ways to style/care for hair. Heat styled hair only looks good for a while before it appears damaged (though there are some who can heat style and still have healthy hair)

  • Your hair is gorgeous..

  • @playgurl02xx I think Loepsie does great hair tutorials, heat tools such as straighteners are damaging to hair if used excessively. And personally I love her hair, it's beautiful and healthy which is the most important thing!

  • @playgurl02xx I make tutorials that are hair friendly, I never use heat, styling products or teasing. I want to show that there's enough you can do with your hair without killing it, especially if you want to grow it long =) So yes, when my hair isn't up or braided it looks like I just got up because it's the same as when I just got up xD I don't think that's a bad thing though =P

  • @Loepsie yeh but in ur vids ur hair is never curled (sock bun) or braided or what ever, ur hair is just there, whats the point of growin it if u aint gonna do naff all with it, u grow ur hair to make it look like not to look like rats tails

  • @playgurl02xx : What's the point of growing long hair and then straighten or heat curl it and eventually destroy it? Loepsie shows many beautiful things that you can do with your hair without damaging it. If it doesn't look good for you, nobody forces you to watch her tutorials; there are more than enough videos of people who use irons or curlers (and that's exactly how their hair looks like...).

  • @MinorRowan yeh but when ever she is doin a tutorial, she has never done anythin with it, its just there looking a mess, its never curled (sock bun) or braided, ITS JUST THERE!

  • @playgurl02xx Wtf? She does do things with her hair. AKA HAIR TUTORIALS? Lmao. How does she look like she just got up? Ruuuude.

  • @D0wnWithTheSickn3ss yeh she might do hair tutorials but when ever she does any other vid (not hair tutorials) its always down and basically looks like crap. and SHE doesnt look like she jus got up but her hair does. and i aint ruuuuuude

  • Your hair and makeup is so beautiful in this video! Can you do a tutorial on your makeup and hair in this vid!!

  • hey..i luv ur videos..mmm my hair splits a lot..my hair is mid length and it started spliting from my shoulders..what should i do?:(

  • This is just a genuis idea.

  • Thank God I'm not the only one who actually does this! My friends think it's really weird as I tend to do this whenever I watch the TV or we're watching some movie/show that doesn't require that much concentration, lol Thank you for making me feel more normal ^^

  • thank you so much! i have long hair and easily get split ends (especially the white dot...) i'll definitely try this.

  • can this be done with shorter hair too?..

  • excellent video :)

  • hahah i didn't know other people did this too.. i always search&destroy my split ends when im bored and i have nothing to do lol

  • I'm currently trying this method of yours by searching split ends.

However - sometime I come across split ends staring like 7 cm from my ends... so... I really have to cut off all that 7 cm because the split starts there. Do I get that correct?

Also... I only do the bottom of my head, because there is my longest hair (I have layered hair) and all the other hair is fresh cut from 2 months ago.

    Is that also correct ?

    ---------------------

ps: Ben jij Nederlands? you sound like it :)

  • @SofijaVitun Yep, you're doing it right =) Although you might want to go through the fresh cut hair briefly just to make sure ^-^ En ja, ik ben Nederlands ;)

  • great video!

  • Great video! I thought i was the only one who does this whilst watching TV Haha. The BEST way to "search and destroy" is to sit outside in the sunlight, you will find loads. If there's no sun, i find it easier to see split ends by holding a strand of my hair against a dark coloured material aka a blanket or my trousers. Totally works!

  • i have a question: my hair is really thin and i haven't cut it in years. im sure that there are tonsss of split ends in there. yesterday i cut of about 1/2 an inch but it prob didnt help. is there anyway to get rid of them without chopping off my hair super short?

  • OH AHAHA, I feel so stupid now x]

anyways, I looked abit more in my hair and turns out, I do actually have split ends, so many that Imma have to get it done by a hairdresser D:

Anyways, do you have any tips on how you can "prevent" them after them being gone?

Lemme guess ; coconut oil? (:

  • Wow, looks like I don't have split ends afterall o.o

But my ends always "clump" together? And they're really dry.

I wish I had coconut oil, as you mention alot, but I can't find it, as we don't really have any "big" makeup stores, and the ones we do got are real expensive, and I can't afford it. But basically, are there things you can put on your ends to give them more hydration? (: also; Could you do a hair essential thingie for THICK hair? As in, real thick hair? Mine is and EURGH /:

  • @CeccySS Coconut oil isn't a beauty product, it's food =) Try looking for it in a food supply store. If you can't find it try olive oil ^-^

  • I have a question : My hair is split, I THINK,

I don't understand your drawings AT all, and my hair breaks ALOT, so if you .. idk, could maybe try to explain more? Because.. er, Idk how to explain it xD but basically, I don't know the difference between split ends, and just "electrical" hair, if you get what I mean? /:

  • where are you from?

  • I have been getting a strand of hair with a split end, twist the end of it around my finger, hold a bit of the top to make sure not a lot get pulled off and pull off the bit with the split end, I'm guessing that's bad? D:

  • thanks this is really helpful. my hair is kinda short and im trying to grow it out but i guess i could just use a mirror to help.

  • Does your hair have to be wet to trim it? Or can it just be dry?

  • @MissKimja1 It can be dry =) I actually never cut my hair when it's wet, wheter I'm just S&Ding or trimming my whole hair. Wet hair is deceiving, it always dries up differently than you've cut it =P

  • how do you 'search' for the split ends if you have short-ish hair (mine ends near my shoulders)

  • ok i tried this and in a few days it seemed like i had more split ends :S help somebody lol

  • @xlilshayneex Are you sure you used good sharp scissors? If your scissors are a bit blunt the cut might actually cause splitting. You really need dangerously sharp scissors =P

  • @Loepsie actually no i dont think they were sharp :P hehe can i ask where u got ur scissors :)

  • @xlilshayneex I have no idea, had them for years =P I heard they sell hair cutting scissors at beauty supply stores though =)

  • snow white, that's so true! face of an angel. i tell you too, these are really cool and informative vids. you are so honest and so enlightening with all these little interesting ways to do things...love it love love it...did i mention i love it?

  • thank you thank you thank you. Whenever i go to get a hair trimming to get rid of split ends the always cut at least and inch or two and i really dont want that.

  • Hi Leopsie,

I really miss having long hair and I am committed to growing it out again, so thank you for all of your great tips.

I just have a question: I don't have many split ends but when I was "searching and destroying", I found that I have some hairs that curve out or that are thinner and kind of go wavy at the ends... Should I cut those ends off or not?

Thank you for your help, Emilie

  • thanks for the tips! it will be very useful when im growing my hair :)

also, could you explain or make a vid on how to get rid of spilt ends in the middle of your hair?

  • Well I have cut my split ends for a long time and I know how much it pays off! But I was so happy when I saw that you did it to, it was like "Yes, I'm not the only one who spends her freetime cutting split ends!" Haha!

  • I agree with you : this is a very relaxing activity. I'm kind of crazy with that, everytime that I see a split end I've got to cut it off !

  • i love ur nails

  • i was wondering where you bought your scissors and how much you paid for them? because i got some that weren't very expensive and they don't seem to be very good. i feel like when i cut my split ends one day later i have even more of them.

  • your so beautiful! and also do you have extensions or is it your natural hair

  • @14Tess14 Thank youu ^-^ My hair's all natural, I'd never wear extensions =)

  • i used to do this in class xD

  • Love your Videos! How can I cut my Split Ends if I only have Shoulder Length? With wich Length did you start to cut off your Split Ends by yourself? And how did you get rid of Split Ends before?

  • @tanjasbuecherlaube I've done it for years, the shortest my hair's been since then was a bit above bra strap length and that was long enough for me to S&D. If you can't see your ends you could try to look in a mirror and cut like that, or you can just let it be and wait until your hair is a bit longer =)

  • omggg i love you you have such a cute face!

  • I love your hairr.......how is it so straight? =(

  • hello, pls what is the nail colour + brand? looks so so great!!

  • @alizarinetta Essence Multi Dimension nailpolish in no. 30 Late at night =)

  • Lovely eyes. ;D

  • If I wouldn't have my awesome awesome hair dresser that literally only cuts out the split ends... I would definitely do this :-D Tho, you are right with the chopping. I went to another hair dresser a few months back, told her to cut the ends...she cut over 20cm off! My hair went down from 95cm length to 72cm :-(

  • Your so cool <3

  • do you do this and trim your hair every so often? or just Search & destroy

  • @That1Girl93 I trim my hair once every six to eight months to even out the ends, other than that I only search & destroy =)

  • do you know what causes split ends?

I always get a ton of them but I've never known where they come from/what causes them.

anyway, thank you for the helpful video :) p.s. your make-up and nails are adorable!

  • I'm sorry to bug you about this but what lipstick are you wearing? It looks beautiful on you.

  • @JellySkulls It's a lipgloss by Essence in the shade Lunch at Cullen's =)

  • @Loepsie Thank you!

  • Hi, I'm sorry if I missed this, but I'm assuming you'd only want to do this on completely dry hair?

  • @haileysheets yeah.. if you do it with wet hair, all the hairs will stick together and you can't see them very well... do it with dry hair.

  • @haileysheets Yes, you won't be able to see the split ends on wet hair.

  • lol i like the title:)

    Great video thoe

  • Thank you very much!

  • this is a great tip, i do this now while sat at my pc watching youtube vids :) :) i only have short hair and it

    s still great!

  • i cant really see the drawing so could you kind of descrie it better

  • Good tip, but I have curls and it is a bit harder then, haha :)

    Bu good anyway!

  • Loepsie

Could you please do a video on how you get you're hair to be really soft and shiny?

  • @PretendingHappily I'd love to, but my hair is not soft. At all =P The shine is natural, perhaps enhanced a bit by coconut oil =)

  • Lol thats what I always do haha XD and it helps :)

  • I found out how to do this from LHC too. And I don't really have a problem with splits but I have alot of the white dots. And I did this a few months ago and I noticed a huge difference. I'm glad that you put these videos to help teach people that in some cases you really don't have to cut off all of your hair. :) Have a great day

  • Thanks <3 (:

  • I agree, it's relaxing! that's the main reason i do it lol.

  • Yes! I get those white dots at the end of my hair sometimes and I was freaking out 'cause I didn't know what it was. D:

    Thanks for this video!

  • Your videos are not only cute but they are very informative. I have known about all these basic steps for a long while since I've been growing my hair for years now, but it's great to revisit them on youtube, and you're actually the first youtuber I see going through the basics like this. There can be more people of course, it's just great to see you doing it ^^ I really enjoy your videos =D And I must say you are very beautyfull! =D

  • @JDLHJDLH thats nice of you to say that but growing your hair for years won't help it it needs a regular trim every 6 months to keep it growing steadily whereas if you keep groqing it for years it will not grow as quickly but veery slowly

  • My hair tends to get dry and when my ends "split" I simply notice that the end is going in a 90 degree angle. I use olive oil in my hair before washing it, but it looks really greasy that way. Is there any way to prevent your hair from looking greasy and still keeping it from getting dry?

Love your vids, please keep it up ~

  • are you a member of LHC? I am too!

  • @archionblu Me too:):):)

  • You're definitely one of my favourite gurus! ^_^ you're so cute and seem so down to earth, and there's just something comforting about your videos lol. I used to do this when my hair was mega long.. I miss it :( But I'm growing it out again!

  • how often do you recommend that somebody does this?

once a week? once a month?

  • @TheVodkaCaviar Whenever you see a split end and feel that it needs to go =) It's entirely up to you and it also depends on how many split ends you have. Some people don't have enough split ends to do it every week, I could go for hours every day =P

  • Thanks, Loepsie! I've often seen the term on LHC and know what it is, but it was cool to see how you're doing it.

  • my hair isnt long enough fr search and destroy. especially the back :(

  • Nice video. Thanks for the tip.

  • great video! thanks! & you look super gorgeous!

  • Thanks for another great tip! :) ♥

  • hiya Loepsie tthanks for this I have dry curly hair...so the problem with splits is common, and too often a major haircut has been the remedy!!!

    thanks hun!!!

ps The lipstick looks gorgeous with your flawless skin!

  • omg, I didn't know about those white dots o.o

I need to trim those next time I'm searching and destroying!

  • you are just gorgeous!

and red lipstick looks so cute on you.

with short hair, you'll look exactly lyk snow white!!

    and thnx for the advice!
