I do miss when paramount owned it but now that they are breaking away from movie themes, I think cedar fair is going to do some thrilling up with carowinds, they are gonna make them keep the title of thrill capital of the southeast especially since they own the thrill capital of the world

@sacrarab I agree I went today and the line was shorter. You also get more of a rush and I had to wait in line for Nighthawk for 45min. as for Afterburn only 15 min.

before paramount pussed out and dropped carowinds, they were considering adding a f-14 tomcat replica to the train but it would take to much to replace the supports so it was scrubbed.

In the people's language the ride is still called "top gun"

Trust me, Cedar Fair is going to do much better things with Carowinds than Paramount was going to.

Such as 2 new roller coasters 2 seasons in a row. Paramount wouldn't have even thought about putting in a B&M Hyper coaster in there, especially not the season after relocating something like Cobra to the park.

i agree with 54fightin it does look like montu. i just think montu is more original. i been going to busch gardens since i was born and i always gazed at how cool montu looked.

last year i was finally tall enough but i didn't go on because we spent a lot of time at sheikra's line. since i missed it and i'm going to carowinds this summer, i am going to ride afterburn. i hope its sweet!

afterburn (thats what its called now) is like WAYYY better than Nighthawk, yet everyones always in line for Nighthawk and it takes like 10 minutes to get on afterburn, I LOVE it! and the ride is insane!

I rode it the other day, this thing is super fast. Some of the loops have nets at the bottom cuz peoples shoes come off!! Its called Afterburn now instead of Top Gun, cuz Paramount doesnt own the park anymore so they took the name

Dude I can't believe that the people who bought Carowinds from paramount renamed the Borg to "Night Hawk" and Top Gun to "Afterburn" (probably so the owners wouldn't have to pay royalties) any way I'm Going May 9th. If anyone else knows If the any other rides names change please tell me.

I've loved coasters ever since I was tall enough to ride them. I've been to alot of theme parks and have to say that this one is a favorite! To get the ultimate experience, you have to ride in the very back and let your arms (and legs) dangle through the ENTIRE ride. Your head will NOT bounce around and you won't leave with a neck injury. Trust me- you have to try it!! You will never hold on again!! The ULTIMATE rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
