The Mughals weren't the only one's to conquer and fight there that they should be so demonized. Every empire in Indian history came from the north or west and conquered in their own time and they left their own stamp. That's how it worked in Near Eastern empires too.

The emperor's power was restricted to the Red Fort. In the Anglo-Maratha war (1803) Gen Lake defeated Doulat Rao Sindhia and took Shah Alam-II under his protection. An officer of Lake's army writes: "The descendent of the great Akbar and Aurangzeb was found... blind and aged, stripped of authority and reduced to poverty, seated under a small tattered canopy, mockery of human pride".
Thus, power was taken not from Muslims, (as they had already lost it, de facto, to the Marathas)

The Marathas were a loose confederacy of weak rulers centered mostly around Pune, and were hated by most other Hindu state . The strongest powers when the british arrived were only the Sihks,the Afghans, and the Sultan of Mysore. the rest of India was divided among weak hindu rajahs and Muslim Nawabs that were easy to conquer. The Mysorean Sultan was actually the strongest apponent to the British.

The Marathas emerged VICTORIOUS . After this there was no other power to oppose Marathas . @hynixx In the first half of 1681, many contingents were dispatched to lay siege to Maratha forts on the border of present day Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. By the end of 1681, a Mughal general had laid siege to Fort Ramsej. But the Marathas did not succumb to this onslaught. The attack was well received and it took the Mughals seven years to win the fort.

Please stop the hate. It is a tribute to a dynasty that gave a lot to India. Akbar is famous for loving India. The Mughals weren't the only one's to conquer and fight there that they should be so demonized. Every empire in Indian history came from the north or west and conquered in their own time and they left their own stamp. That's how it worked in Near Eastern empires too.

Which is untrue but in the same suburb there were a Hindu Temple existed on bank of Yamuna River which were derelict at those day when Shahajahan initiated to build Taj. Legend goes some stage of building Taj project that temple were dismantled to make a room for clear sight view 360 degree surrounding Taj. This narration exists in Hindu's chronicler,but cannot substantiate?

Mogul came to Deccan upto the present days Maharashtraha State; cause Maratha Kingdom has give them tough fight never quite successfully defeated. Many campaign ran by Mogule to over come Marathas but failed. @imrank340 I sometimes watch lectures by an Indian scholar called Dr Zakir Naik. Someone asked him whether Islam was spread by the sword and he gave the same answer. He highlighted the fact that muslims ruled india for centuries and if they had wanted they could have forced Islam on all the citizens but they didn't cos Islam does not allow that. I believe missionaries were sent all over world to spread Islam and those who converted did so through learning about the religion and the Message.
