It's not about heroin it's about roger water's experience with hepatitis he has had it since he was a kid. THe movie reflects that he had a pet rat that carried a disease he kept and had it as a pet. He later was numb because of the shot the doctor had given him. Do not make assumptions Pink Floyd may have been big on drugs in the early days but most of their songs are written about syd barrett and the songs are meant to sound "trippt" because thats how Syd lived his life. They worshiped Syd.

Who's tartcake? Yes, he does reference a childhood experience where he was ill. However, he also says, "Now I've got that feeling once again," and, "The child is grown, the dream is gone." He' may reference that childhood experience, but being "comfortably numb" in this song is about an experience as an adult performer - "That'll keep you going for the show. Come on it's time to go."

No correction needed. I have listened very carefully through my high spec PC and speakers, and the word "at" isn't coming out of them!! I looked at 3 lyric pages, and none mention "at". Saying that, when I sing it, I put an "at" in. Oh well.

no this song is not about herion. This song is about Roger Waters. True story: he was preparing for a Pink Floyd gig in Philly. The only problem is that he had Hepatitis (or something like that) and he was feeling pretty crappy. So he went to see a "street doctor" just before the show, in an effort to get some relief. The quack gave him a high dose of some sedative to ease the pain. The only problem is that it rendered Roger dysfunctional as a musician for the gig. He was comfortably numb.

It's actually about one of the band members being ill before a concert and the doctor needing to be called in so he could perform that night! Saw it in an interview. You really need to check into this stuff before you comment....

my favorite floyd song. im only 15 and i just discovered it fairly recently. I heard it somewhere and thought it was cool. i looked it up and found out it was by pink floyd and it's their second most popular song on itunes. wow. how awesome is that? it deserves its place. the guituar solos are ball breakers!!

It's about a friend who was addicted to heroin and needed it to go on with the show, hence "Just a little pinprick. There will be no more *screams* but you might feel a little sick" This sounds like it's describing heroin. "Can you stand up? I do believe it's working, good. That will keep you going for the show.
