I didn't refer to him live in this band OR Karnivool, I was clearly refering to this studio version on this video. which does, in fact, have way too much autotune on the vocals... Most producers put it on even the best singers these days during the mixing process, if just for extra effect. And on this = too much, sorry!

Much prefer Karnivool actually... kind of like the difference between Tool (amazing!) and APC (bit mediocre)... however, I can't agree with the 'better than 'Muse' comment -Matt Belamy can sing. I mean, really sing. Quite simply, he officially actually has a bigger range than this guy, and more than most singers! Waaaay too much autotune on this, but the production is amazing! If you stuff like this and Karnivool,check out Oceansize.Way better!

Personally, I prefer Birds of Tokyo to Karnivool. The distinctive quality in both bands is undoubtedly Ian's voice, and I think his voice really shines in this band. With Karnivool, you have a bunch of metal tracks that always seem to be holding back; they don't shred like you expect them to. I personally find Birds of Tokyo to be a more melodic band, less technical, which compliments Ian's incredible voice better.

@Shical I couldn't agree more. Karnivool is one of my favorite bands. I love Ian's voice, its that pure Aussie distinction. Honestly though, I think it's the other way around, Karnivool's music is too good for Ian's voice. Then again, no voice is good enough for that music, but Ian does it better than I think any other human could, so I can't complain.

I gotta disagree. I think Ian's voice fits perfectly into the technical style of Karnivool and is a better showcase for his talent. Birds of Tokyo is good, but Karnivool is EPIC and every member of that band stands out. The musicianship in Karnivool is every bit as good as Ian's singing.

Also not shredding does not mean they are holding back. I would FAR rather listen to a guitar solo like that in Deadman (starting at around 4:50) than a bunch of mindless shredding and tapping.
