  • Great song to go with this weird, wild, and wacky video. Cheers!!!

  • first time i saw the vid was on the day he died.

  • officially best music video EVER! We miss you Georgie! :')

  • love this...!!!

  • George wasn't on earth as long as most people, but the time he was he seams to have had a good time.

  • this is nothing more than a laugh by George at the british crown and the britixh way of life, the pomp and circumstance of it all

  • Great song and video. I was fifteen when this album came out...boy I'm old....thank's for posting.

  • I love you George, Your Amazing!♥ R.I.P♥

  • @HannahHypnotize96 you're*

  • Awww!! como lo AMO!!! es taaaaan sexy, Dios!!! además canta hermoso! y es un excelente guitarrista y muy gracioso ..me enamoré >3<

  • @Keisy027 Yo me parezco a él :D

  • @norfiel bien por vos :D

  • Feeling so much Love from this song and George's heart.

  • Interesting song and old music video..

  • At 2:32 is that a tribute to blazing saddles? he says "it's twue it's twue".

  • George Harrison==most unique slide player of them all

  • I think the spirit of Sir Frankie Crisp rubbed off on George, considering how eccentric he became.

  • the lady on the left was Olivia right?

  • Best song of George Harrison !

  • George is so attractive during this time.

  • George really didn't know how much joy he brought to the world

  • Ten years ago today. I miss him.

  • They were going to tear down the monastery BUT George saved it and was still restoring it until he died. A good soul. Look at how HUGE this place was!!!

  • it's twue it's twue

  • I wonder if younger fans get the thirty-three and a third reference!

  • @StephieMcCarthy I do and I am that old, 33 and a third now...

  • I believe this video was filmed at and in George's home, a former catholic monastery that he bought and restored. And I can see the Python influence also, as this was at the time he was bankrolling "The Life of Brian" and the gnomes reference the cover of his "All Things Must Pass" album cover. One Cool Cat!

  • @IABOY4444 Yes! he actually mortgaged this estate to bankroll "Life of Brian" for his friend Eric Idle. George donated many thousands of dollars to various causes. This estate was to be torn down and he saved it and spent thousands to restore it.

  • Omfg. George, you get in my bed right now, you sexy thing.

  • I rate this the best of any Beatles video, even tho John, Ringo and Paul are absent. Boy, do I miss George!

  • SNL has had some pretty kick ass musical guests in it's day.

  • I bet he banged those 2 hot chics on the bed!

  • @SaintJorge304 - the one on the left was his (soon-to-be) wife Olivia, so you're at least half-right! ;-)

  • can never get enough of this. george was and is still great. my only hope is that younger people will have the chance to listen and receive.

  • it's true it's true gawd i cry

  • Favorite George Harrison song !!

  • A little of Monty Pythons Flying Circus here in this making.I Love it. Stephen D. Deerfield Beach,FL.11/4/2011

  • @2:43, the camera runs a gauntlet of 2008 Obama supporters!

  • <3 <3 <3

  • Trivia: The dark haired woman on the bed is his future wife Olivia.

  • you rarely see neil innes crack up... george must have had that ability

  • It's funny, I remember seeing this video on an SNL repeat years ago, and at the time, I wasn't that familiar with Python, so I was a bit like "WTF?!?!". With me being now very familiar with Python, I think it's brilliant! :)

  • That's Neil Innes behind the pram!

  • Someone seemed to enjoy Monty Python. I mean, I know George and all them were buds and all, but this video still blows my mind with its wealth of Monty Python references.

  • Ultimately he was my favorite Beatle...man his music was really a zillion miles beyond its time

    Cheers mate

    rest in Peace George

  • I wish it was 1977 again.......This song even now kinda forgotten, was played on the radio nearly all the time..

  • I wish it was 1977 again.......

  • A Rutle in Friar Park.

  • Pantomime Princess Margaret!

  • This is soooo random!!!!

  • And how much acid do I have to take, to get to this Crackerbox Palace?

  • hey heres mr living in material worlds little shack

  • great song of a great album 33&1/3 from a great man.... luckily i saw him at the boston garden. i believe it was 1974!!!!!

  • We miss your light, love and wisdom. God bless you George.

  • Olivia is soooo pretty xx

  • lol at 1:15. geoge looks like angus young from ac/dc.

all thats missing is the gibson SG guitar.

  • I love this song so much<3 one of my top 10 favorite song:)

  • Funny how George's songwriting was bland to start with but bloomed in the late 60's to the 70's and became world class. It goes to show great songwriting is something you can learn, like guitar or TV repair. It just takes a lot of practice.

  • @maripocita37 I beg to differ. I think his songwright was brilliant from start to finish.

  • @DBMalone George didn't even think "Don't Bother me" was any good. Far from Brilliant. As far as I can tell "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was his first brilliant song. From there he just got better.

  • Pythonesque.

  • @RogueTrader101 I would hope so. It was directed by Eric Idle, and most (if not all) the Python crew was in it... including Eric.

  • Remember seeing this on SNL as a kid --- classic stuff

  • @tedcantu1 I remember it too. I was in the Navy in school at Great Lakes Naval Training Center at the time... January, 1977. Did you ever hear the story of how it ended up on SNL?

  • @DBMalone No, I never heard that story.... do tell

  • @tedcantu1 First, I'm off on my timing. It was broacast on November 20, 1976 according to Wikipedia. I was in boot camp, so could not have seen it when broadcast.

Eric Idle was scheduled to host SNL that week. He had directed the video of Crackerbox Palace, and he and most of the Mont Python crew are in it. The last thing he did when he left home in London was to grab the cassett of the video. He talked Lorne Michaesl into showing it during the broadcast. And the rest is history.

  • @DBMalone Very cool -- thats great, I never knew that... As a kid I remember seeing this on SNL, we had no VHS back then so I grabbed the tape recorder and taped it --- thanks for sharing !!

  • @tedcantu1 Yeah... no one had VHS then. VCRs didn't come into homes until around 1980 or '81. I remember seeing my first VCR. I can date it... February, 1975. A buddy's father had some sort of job with a film distribution company so had one at home for his work. We saw A Clockwork Orange, and Man in the Wilderness on that thing. We all thought it was cool... we could watch these movies any time we wanted to!

Pretty cool that you thought to tape that video! You were Ahead of your time.

  • Always thought lyrics in this song were about Lennon. Anyone else?

  • is it me or did this video have a bit of a Pythonesque edge to it.

  • @larrystarstruck Yes--George was a Python fan and produced "Life of Brian" and Gilliam's "Time Bandits".

  • @larrystarstruck Not to mention Eric Idle directed it and that it includes most of the Python crew, including Eric.

  • I wanna go to Crackerbox Palace! I wish I was one of those girls who hid under his bed. Sure he'd get mad at me, but at least he would remember me forever! :)

  • The "nurse" pushing the pram was Neil Innes, of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band and The Rutles.

  • Georgie´s wife is one of the girls in the bed

  • @Nowhereman90 She wasn't his wife at the time. He was still legally married to Pattie until 1977.

  • thats so funny I just watched the snl video on netflix!

  • Why have i never heard this awesome song until i saw it on an old snl on netflix?

  • when i die i want a cp party

  • I can't help but think this would be very much the style of a contemporary Beatle's video had they stayed together. Similar to "Walrus", with goofy characters. I remember the first time I heard this song, and thought the line "I was so young when I was born" was great!

  • 3:33 The Pantomime Princess Margaret hunting for breakfast.

  • is that george's house?

  • @9paperbackwriter Yes, it is indeed!

  • @sharkeysmum < this is not a woman, but a gender confused paraplegic who's suffering from diabetes who at times thinks he's a female !

  • @9paperbackwriter Yes. That "house" - the sprawling estate named Friar Park located in Henley-on-Thames west of London. George bought it right after the Beatles split and it is perhaps the most magnificent home any of the four Beatles ever owned. With George's grand new digs, his songs blossoming into first-rate gems equal to John and Paul's by '69, a beautiful wife (though a shaky marriage) and great and talented friends, the post-Beatles world must have been a source of joy for him.

  • i love how random this video is thumbs up if u agree. : )

  • @watto958 i'm sorry i didnt make it so clear ok? -_- listen, i love this song alright?! I love the randomness, i love George Harrison, i love the song. What more do you want?????? Next time i'll make it more "clear" (not) so you'll be happy but i don't want to start a fight. Let's not be childish and just enjoy the music ok?

  • Iast time I see this was on tv back in the seventys, but I remeber so much of it like I just seen it lol

  • like many beatles songs, this one just blew me away the first time i heard it.

  • Lovely...stuff...and at our own selves.

  • George I MISS YOU!!!!!

  • I remember seeing this back in the day on SNL, but I didn't remember George being so silly in it! Love it!

  • yeah this film was made for sat night live, George and Paul Simon, first or second season. Before Bill Murry !

  • hahahaha i love neil innes

  • One of my FAVORITE songs...

  • Am I crazy, or was this video shown on Saturday Night Live (all those years ago)?

  • @supergolfdude Yeah it was. I saw it. I then bought the album

  • Miss you George and John too. I thought thr Beatles were awesome but everybody did okay on there own. Love the fab Four!!!

  • I love the song so much - but it's hard for me to hear for the last few years. My family moved into a beautiful home in 2004 which we loved and named "Crackerbox Palace" . Unfortanately in 09 we became victims of the horrible recession and lost our home. I don't even know why I'm saying this. Therapy I guess. Anyway it's all good and George's music has always been there for me!

  • @DarkHorse0863 Believe it or not I feel bad for you, your parents work hard and get the best for their kids and the greedy banks took everything away, well not everything, there's always a shiny day. And nobody can take away what you are and what you believe in. You are a fighter, at the end there's always a light at the end of any tunnel, no matter how dark it is.

  • @lizbrennerurrutia You are really cool! Thank you for your kind words.

  • I think that's Olivia at 2:42

  • Comment removed

  • I could be wrong but i thought i saw Olivia,Ringo and Mickey Dolenz in this video,

  • Absolutely LOVE this song and George's whimsical sense of humor - wish he was still with us

  • Many thanks DMS....I can't get enough....more GH vids...more GH vids...

  • 1:14 is that where Angus Young got the idea?

  • @LeamingtonSteve, maybe; but Angus probably got the idea on his own when AC/DC formed in 1973 before this video was released in 1976, but George does look like Angus Young in that school boy outfit

  • so pythonesque! i love you, george, i really do

  • @ScattySafari He is totally lovely,I am still fall in love with him

  • A little blend between Severus and 2005´s Charly and the chocolate factory

  • in reference to why is george dressed up like angus young probably when this video came out angus was still in diapers at most, its why did angus wear the outfit george was wearring in this vidio at one point

  • The best video ever made but I have two questions.

1 Why is John Lennon pushing George's pram?

2 Why is George dressed as Angus Young?

  • @higgins0421 omg you r right! i was like who the hell is pushing georges pram and he looks like angus young

  • @aerosmithbeatles The guy pusing the pram is Neil Innes who went on to play the John Lennon character (Ron Nasty) in the tv film "The Rutles". But fuck knows why he's dressed as Angus .

  • @higgins0421 ohhhh

    and I KNOOOOOOWWWW WHO KNOOOWWWSSS!

  • @higgins0421 Its not John Lennon :L it Neil Innes

  • @sallyg270 I know, but you've got to admit he looks a lot like John.

  • @higgins0421 I suppose he does a little XD

  • I remember watching this video for the first time on SNL.

  • when and if i die. Before that happens if i have a sentence of six months or so i would try to have a party of this videos with all my friends acting parts of this video man it would be awesome

  • Everytime I see a garden gnome I think of this video, it is great. The song is great too.

  • @ravenpicks great just is sad some idiots believe George lived in 120 rooms mansion, yes he bought it,but he never lived there,Olivia said it was nonsense, they lived in Friar park, but just in small lovely house

  • Love this song. Love the part where he says that the Lord is well and lives inside you. Kooking forward to seeing him in Heaven.

  • Look at that woman repressing her laugh when he pops up LOL

  • God, I'm fucking DIEING! This is HILARIOUS!

God, Georgie, I love you soooo much. ;___; <3

  • I screamed in terror when he poped up.

  • I go through musical phases, and every time I think I'm over my George Harrison phase, something like this pops up right in time and reminds me that I am not, and likely never will be. :)

  • George hit #19 in Billboard, 3-26-77. God bless ya, Dennis, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, George.

  • ten thumbs up

by the way, the video has so many dislikes because one person who hates the beatles made 42 accounts and disliked it on every one...douche...

  • Olivia as George's girlfriend at 2:39 to the left. :D

P.S. Why does this song have so many dislikes?

  • @nafaidni correct

  • Great song, What is Life is my favorite George Harrison song

  • Thank You .

  • This is my top favorite song from Thirty Three & 1/3.I love how in the beginning George pops out of the stroller.I also like how at the end everyone's waving.A good video for an awesome song.

  • I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but GH's future wife, Olivia, is the brunette on his bed at 2:40

  • Dear God, Please take Justin Beiber and Give us John and George back!!!

  • I miss him...

  • First saw this video on SNL in the late '70s.

  • @clone66 this is on the original snl seasons. i think it's on season two.

  • He was too beautiful for this world.

  • 58 now. Saw them on the Ed Sullivan show in '63. I got memories of the Beatles. I was a Millington, Tenn Navy brat. Now that's a mixture. My whole life was Beatle tunes. I was blessed. Every week there'd be a new Beatle news event, song. Man they were a good band.

  • One of my favourite George track

  • This is twooly great.

  • who is the "women" in the beginning of the video? It looks like a mann dressed as a women hahaha

  • @ilovethebeatles631 i think the woman is michel palin of monty python noy 1005 but pretty sure

  • @TheMrtimmy28 Actually, it looks like friend of Eric Idle, Neil Innes of The Bonzo Dog Band and Rutland Weekend Television. He has YouTube postings as well, check them out.

  • @Topher1660 good call thanks but i was close lol i'll check em out i actually know john cleese on a first name basis i met him back around 1974 cause he was doing a tv commercial on the marine base i was staioned on he saw me doing a silly walk and laughed his ass off and we became friends. not tight but we keep in contact on holidays etc occaional phone ring up thanks

  • oh georgie ... he was ultimately such a weirdo. i love it.

  • Heaven's had George and John for too long...we need them back now....

  • @DJCrowe501 Sorry, this is a one way ride.

  • @DJCrowe501 I miss them sooooooooooooo much.

  • @DJCrowe501

You are so right!! I do miss George and John very much. I try to play all of George´s songs on my guitar to ease my pain.

  • @DJCrowe501 We could give heaven Beiber, but then it would give him to hell.

  • @raintalonwindclan LMAO!!!!!!!

  • @DJCrowe501 Agreed. wouldn't want to have to take the route to go see them right now. I'm not really sold on a heaven. But I know i'd be in a heaven if I ever met either one in some other life. Lost my chance in this one. I only lived 5 hrs away from John.

  • What is not to love?

  • 0:39 baby harrison :3

  • He was Fab

  • I know this is nitpicking, but this video was originally in the key of A Major. For the remastered version that's on the Dark Horse Years DVD, the raised the pitch to B Flat Major (like it is on the album), but left the speed alone.

  • @vnisanianisback I hate when that happens ... and it often happens.

  • 0:28 <3 haha I laughed so hard!! I love his hair!! and his legs at 1:15!! he was so skinny<3 I just love George and this song(:

  • @RosySuperBeatleFan lol same! The actors from Monty Python were in the video, too!

  • I've seen this the first time on Saturday Night Live when Paul Simon hosted and it's very...nice

  • I saw this video on television way back in 1976....it was one of those late night music shows, I think "Midnight Special". Anyway, I was about 12 at the time, and I always had my transistor radio glued to my ear with one of those white earplugs. Anyway, I saw the video and I remember telling my friends about it. And we said something like, "Video? It'll NEVER work. Radio is king!"

We were definitely wrong on that one.

  • Great tune.

  • LOVE THIS. RIP George

  • just great!

  • Clip directed by Eric Idle I believe thus the appearance of Graham Chapman and the Monty Python props.

  • 3:33 Oh, God!!!! It was the "Pantomime Princess Margaret" from Monty Python' FC xDxDxD
