I am building this model too. It's an excellent kit, only lacking the seat belts. But I made them with self adhesive paper. You need no expensive photo-etching parts. But what's the cause that damaged the decals? Both, decals and flat finisher are from the same company, thus compatibility should be standard.
Is this TS-80 clear colour finish a water-based colour? In this case it would be exspectable because decals are glued with water-soluble layer. Btw, I too build models but only civilian vintage cars.
Yeas it is water based, an d be the way Ihave built one civilian car too, (The audi R8) and I used aircraft decals to finish it! Check it out on my channel!
A thin layer of Johnsons KLEAR / FUTURE left to dry before spraying the matt varnish would most likely have prevented the misshap, and sealed the decals in place too.. :)

You should seal with future after decals, then try a flat base afterward :)

No, this was'nt the TROP kit (revell GmBh), this was a tamiya kit. (I've also built the trop kit too!)

personally I would have gone with the TS4-1900- Wingman with an 800-RAMT4 cockpit, but its your choice.

The airpressure of my TS-80 was way to high, I should have sprayed from a much greater distance.

EXCELLENT!
