  • so is this ship for sale?

  • it looked like the bottom got ripped up when it was dragged off the rocks

  • the sail covers are on... surely anytime you're moving your boat, at anchor or on a mooring you should leave covers off in case you need your sails in a hurry. Feel sorry for the owner.

  • Qué horror flaco.

    Cómo lo siento.

  • As a former professional marine rescue captain/ocean tug operator when I was the ketch was on the rocks I would have taken the main sheet from the mast top and secured it to the shore. It that was low tide the boat's lost anyway. At least salvage what you could. Obviously an insured boat.

  • it looked like a comfortable cruiser, what a shame, always a sad moment, especially the pollution, but no one will give a damn about that..!

  • the right thing to do in a case like that is to support the keel and hull with timber and fill the boat with ballast, wait for the tide to come in and then float the boat by pumping out the ballast. the coast guard owes dude a 40 foot schooner

  • It's not schooner, it's a ketch. Maybe it was high tide.

  • my bad, one has one mast the other has 2. thanks for helping me... either way, high tide or not, pulling the craft off the rocks was a bad idea.

  • They both have two, a schooner can have up to six. On a two masted schooner the aft mast is taller than the forward mast.

  • The Coast Guard is not the one who ran it aground are they, lol

  • What happenf at 44 sec was the tow line snapped taught senfing spray nothing horrible...

  • Something horrible happened at 44 seconds.

  • Why did he beach the boat instead of going into a harbour?

  • Got beached... bummer. They should of waited for the tide to lift it off the rocks before they ground up the hull by pullng it. I can see pulling out to sea if it was on a sand bar or sand. But on rocks? Please!

  • what happying ? to your boat?

hit rock lol that blow your boat to bad

  • this is sad...

  • The owner-captain of the boat (my dad) though had everything under control, just had to wait for the high tide. But marine authorities of Valparaiso (Chile) forced him to leave the boat (?¿?¿) and go to the offices to inform what was going on ?¿.

  • Thanks for your comments... and trying to reply them all should say that no company insures wood-boats in Chile.

  • Clueless angelica,

If you had a brain, you would know what flag that was. What an ignorant comment!

  • Sorry about the comment. I am unable to make out what flag it is, please tell me. The comment fits if it is an American flag, George Bush is my proof.

  • how about floatation gear before moving obvious holes in bottom.

  • Should have waited till high tide and pulled her further out to sea. Salvage from underwater is better then picking gabage off the rocks

  • Condolences, man. But judging by all the ocean-going gear and not salvaging the sails, it looks like you were insured. Still, terrible. What happened?

  • you got stuck on a lee shore?

  • Ouch. Your yacht in pieces. Commiserations.

  • not much left...

  • Uhhhh... que fuerte!! buena página web para los quienes somos fanáticos del mar!!!

  • a little background info woulda been nice

  • Yeah, ollowert, agree. I gotta go to the web page, really dramatic, happened in South America.
