I didn't know Peter Frampton lives in my home state, Ohio in Cincinnati. I got the opportunity to see him in Tampa, FL on David Bowies Tour. I so mad because I missed him in NYC where I live now at the Beacon last night.
OMG..........I just remembered the crush I had on Frampton.....probably like most other girls at such a tender, young age back then. I never say this but.........he is just all around perfect!
This was one of my favorite songs. I played his album over and over and dreamed of finding someone who would love me like this. I was in a very abusive relationship at the time. Peter Frampton was my Dream Lover. Guys you should pay attention to the words in this song, you would be surprised how the ladies would react. Beautiful song. Thanks Peter.
Yea,I miss Bobby Mayo a lot,He was a wonderful person as well a a great talent.Radio was so different back then. You had such a varied top 20.Peter played the drums on this one,And had the original piano, vocal recording he did at home.We flew It on to the multi-track and overdubbed all the other parts. He had the right Instinct to know that that was the one,And he keep It!!Thats equally Important as a artist. To know when It feels right to you!!!!
C'mon people, there were far better songs in the '70s. This is cheesy on every level. The lyrics are retarded, the melody utterly simplistic, and the guitar playing and singing way below Frampton's abilities. No wonder Zappa parodied him. Go back and listen to Humble Pie...
@llawfhionn There were far better songs in the 70's? Yes, but there were far far far FAR worse. This song isn't cheesy, it's romantic and simple, yet, could you write it? Make it a hit? The lyrics aren't retarded, simple sure but potent in that simplicity, direct and important. The song is honest and beautiful. The piano (played by Frampton) mixed with the vocal and drums(played by Frampton) work perfectly together. Humble pie? This is a ballad dude. Of course no screaming guitar..but 100% emotion.
@llawfhionn ...so, I suggest you take a listen again. Have you never been in love? If you can't relate to the way Pete hits a deep emotional, romantic chord of feeling in this tune with that innocent, youthful, vocal plaint, then I think you've never felt or been in, or lost a deep romantic love in your life....or else you just, don't get it. This song is not cheesy. It's good solid pop music ballad with heart.
i live in cincinnati. frampton does too. it's funny to see him looking like this knowing how he looks now. the ONLY time i was truly star struck was when i saw him walking along at my nephew's high school football game. it was surreal.

@Journey432 It was an awesome time. I was 16 in 1976, 17 in '77 etc. The music was great. Afternoon Delight is still a favorite. Maybe it's just cause we are older now and we've experienced a lot and we had the future ahead of us, instead of history behind us.

Well Peter, YOU ran into a problem, didn't you? You had that MONSTER album"Frampton Comes Alive" in 1976, and you couldn't equal it. Well, Mr. Frampton, if it's any consolation, I like this tune.
Saw this guy live in Detroit in the late 70s. It was the single worst show I've ever seen, and remains so all these years later. He played 'I'm in you" for 40 minutes. I think he was stoned; he didn't even walk around the stage. The audience was stoned. maybe that was the key to enjoying his music and his concert, being mindnumbingly stoned.

Listen carefully to the transition of instruments at the solo's end ... delicately stepped cymbals march the song back to a stolid piano: sheer euphoria.
I do wish you well though. I hear your pain-& also, no offense, but as we're about the same age it sounds like menopausal lust is part of the picture. :O) Now I'm wondering what you look like-& thinking that you're probably very hot. People find reasons to justify what they want to do, & (as an ex-Christian) I can tell you that the bible has verses to support just about anything people want to engage in-from war, right on down the line. No kids, husband cheated? I'd love to "minister" to you ;O)
@klsmith0963 Hey-it's up to you. Of course how your husband treats you is a factor to consider. I once dated a "Christian" woman, who pursued me & was in the process of divorcing her husband, & though she REALLY loved sex (& her sex life w/her husband had gone downhill due to a back injury from his job, etc), she later deemed that I wasn't "Christian" enough for her/her 4 & 6 year-old children (who I LOVED). Life is kinda funny, isn't it?? "God's plan"? Sounds like a cop-out to justify cheating.

I really do wish you well, but pardon my language-where the F#CK was he for the past 28 years? Having a good time, not worrying about you at all-until he got divorced/tired of playing around/going gray or whatever, & thought, hell, I can't get women like I used to, I'm sure klsmith will have me. She was always putty in my hands anyway... Oh, she's married?? Well, no problem, I'll hit on her anyway. Her HUSBAND made a commitment to her, & they're trying to save their marriage-but hey-I don't mind

@klsmith0963 Uh-oh. I UNDERSTAND love-but if you're REALLY trying to repair your marriage, & he doesn't respect that, then he's an asshole (despite any good qualities he may have). It's one thing to apologize for hurting you in the past, it's another to hit on a married woman (& hurt you again, assuming you love your husband). Not to mention hurting your HUSBAND, who is TOTALLY blameless for whatever this guy did to you before. If you haven't made it CLEAR that your husband comes 1st-it's on you
Peter Frampton was a big hit here in Brazil. This song reminds me of a wonderful time of my life. Frampton Congratulations for making such beautiful music.
Peter Frampton, whose "Frampton Comes Alive" remains one of the best-selling live albums of all time, reveals his most embarrassing onstage incident. Read more at The Worst Gig (WorstGig.com).
i just got i'm in you on cd what memories i saw him in concert in '79 after his accident when where i should be had come out on vinal. in the 80's he played guitar for david bowie. great guitar player.
I was 10 years old, when this song was out....my mother loved Mr. Frampton, so it was part of what I grew up on....I thought that I would never get to see this man in concert....I was wrong, I WASTED NO TIME getting tickets for my mother and myself.....one of my lasting memories of our good times together! Some of the most beautiful music comes from this talented musican.
Love everything about this song! Peter looks so sexy and he plays the guitar like no one else! Love Bob Mayo also! This song makes me happy:) 70' still rock!!
Great song....when you're a hard rocker type like Frampton was and you can also have a song like this...an easy listening love song...it shows you have real talent in order to be so diversified!!
Brings back memories of hangin out at the town swimming pool with this song pouring from the jukebox- the hot sun, good friends, the smell of chlorine and suntan lotion and eating doritos from the snack bar- to be 12 years old again!
Peter is on tour now doing a 35th anniversary tour of Franpton Comes Alive. This tour is THE tour to see! There are tickets still available at alot of venus. 3 hours of pure rock the way it was meant to be! He even plays "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" during his encore!!!! This man loves what he does and will give you a show of your lifetime!
God, this brings back memories. I feel so old even though I am only 41. This song is one of his best and it really brings out his harmony and ranges in his voice.
Anyone who's ever really been in love will understand this song. I was DEEPLY, helplessly in love with a woman in 2003 (had a bf, they're married now of course) & was selling at an antique market (downtown) one Sunday when suddenly someone living above one of the businesses put this song on, loud enough to be heard all over the square. Hadn't heard it in ~20 years... I just started walking across the grass, toward the sound of the music, & stood transfixed as it washed over me...an altered state
@Barbie4941 :O) Yes, love... a temporary form of insanity that turns you into a complete idiot, until you weep your guts out for so long that you're tired of being alive. Yeah, it sure was beautiful... almost hung myself down by the creek. :O))
@bookguitarguy Wish I was there- while you were transfixed- I'd have robbed your stuff and sold it up the pub- but it is funny how music does affect everyone from time to time.
My first "real" girfriend was 1977. I was 16. Her name was Julie, and I remember how much we loved listening to this song. The memories are bitter sweet. Julie had two brothers that died before age 25. One was executed in Virginia's electric chair, and the other died in a shoot-out with police. Julie went on to be an officer in the Air Force. Her mother agonized when talking about her two dead sons, but thank God she had Julie. I haven't seen or heard from Julie in more than 25 years.
he was cute enough to eat....

Brings back memories of hangin out at the town swimming pool with this song pouring from the jukebox- the hot sun, good friends, the smell of chlorine and suntan lotion and eating doritos from the snack bar- to be 12 years old again!

Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end of Frampton's reign.
After Sgt. Pepper it was really over.
He still kicks ass though!
