these are 2 sub-adult animal. The t.rex in this movie was 11m long, the spino was 14m long. On real life the t.rex was 13m long, and Spino was 18-20m long!!!!!

This would mean spino is NOT dramatically larger and the only size difference is simply length. The only reason why spino is longer is simply due to its very long tail and its overly elongated narrow neck and snout which would mean that spino size isn't going to much especially in terms of strength.

@SwordmanKite Not true, even without this scene this movie would be mediocre at best. For starters, its story is poorly written and there isn't even really a plot(it's really just mindless nonsensical chase). It's very unsettled, has no depth and is completely devoid of what made all the other Jp movies work. The acting is just bad and poorly preformed with extra unnecessary wackiness which also made this movie awkward. The CG is barely passable and the animatronics were dreadful.

1. That T-Rex (I believe) isn't a juvenile, but it does seem young. Reasons for that: it's size indicates that it was full grown. Looking at when the T-Rex first started chasing them in the beginning. However, it has unusual behavior. It seems curious rather than actually trying to hurt them.
2. Everyone forgets that ALL dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are mutated. So they aren't exactly the same as the animals they once were. That being said, some may be bigger, smaller, weaker, or stronger than...

This fight is still better for t rex than the new king kong. Those dont even brake the skin, kong just rips them off, and the only blood is from t rex jaw when it was tossed.
In the end, theatrics aside, the T-Rex would've had little difficulties in winning. From the very first bite, the Spineosaurus would have immediately fallen prey to the more evolved descent, Tyrannosaur Rex. Any source, aside from fictional movies, would validate this.

Spinosaurus could have some chance of winning. It has advantage of size and claws. Thats about it, though. no one knows for sure who would win, as no one was around at the time of the dinos. But T rex probably had a better chance of winning.

Through logical perspectives, t-rex would ultimately win. Keep in mind, this is just a 30ft juvenile t-rex and the spino's CG design is grossly inaccurate(doesn't even look like an actual spino).
In actuality, they are at the same height to the hip. T-rex is a much stronger and powerful animal than spinosaurus. T-rex's durability also gives it a major edge over spino. Let alone t-rex being vastly much more intelligent. T-rex is also more than twice as fast as well as agile and maneuverable.
@calibersoul2012 Good analysis, it's hard to admit that it was actually renowned paleontologist Jack Horner who's idea it was to have the Spino as the dominant predator for this film, and his idea to let the Spino win in this fight as his theories have always suggested that the Rex was a scavenger, not a fighter. So really, there was some science behind this battle. But sometimes, we just want fun and less reality, everybody would have liked the Rex to win regardless as it's universally loved.
@somethinglacking1 Not quite, Jack is really only known for his lacks in consistencies and mainly scavenger theories on t-rex to the media which has all been debunked. It's really the only reason why he's well known. He has never even been to a university.
The only reason why spino was even chosen was simply because of the fact that it looks completely different as Jack didn't want something that looks too much like another t-rex to children's eyes(such as giganotosaurus).

Jack's theories are controversial, but it was his idea to have the Spino as the new dominant predator for the film, and the filmmakers wanted a new antogonist/"villain" as they were bored of T-Rex and wanted something "nastier". Spino was bigger than Rex and looked different, so they chose it, but it's nothing more than a giant duck that eats fish, not a fighter.Horner never liked Rex anyway becuase its gets too much love, no wonder they made it into such a pussy here.

@RoxasMark they didn't genetically alter them to be stronger and more vicious. The dinos are pretty much as accurate as they were when they lived, the only thing they changed was to have them all females. But that was in the first movie only, they've now bred and evolved on Isla Sorna.

@RoxasMark The Dilophosaurus was just artistic liberty from the designers, it was nothing to do with InGEN genetically modifying them in the plot. The Raptors were in fact Deinonychus in the film, but Spielberg liked the name Velociraptor better so called them that. Frog DNA doesn't relate to those anyway. The frog DNA only resulted to them changing sex, as explained in the film. They are genetically created mutants, sure, but within the film, they were only genetically engineered to be female.

"The Making of Jurassic Park" book +audio commentaries has the artists+Stan Winston explaining the design decisions and changes throughout all 3 films (dinos are different throughout)

The spinosaurus was larger yes, but primarily was strong in hunting fish, the t-rex was large and strong and was built and made for hunting dinosaurs like the spinosaurus, the bite force was ridiculously strong, and that first bite it gave to the spinosaurus would've taken it out... however this is a movie and its all good fun ^__^

Spino has advantage of size and claws. It really depends on who bites the neck first. If spino got a hold of the neck first, its conical teeth would break into the rex's trachea, killing it. If t rex got a hold of the neck first, its powerful jaws would snap spino's neck.

However, t-rex had a very thick musculature neck wrapped with a very thick hide. Spin's HOLLOWED teeth aren't long enough and its jaws are far too weak. Not only that, but spio wouldn't even be able to reach it and t-rex's neck was too agile

T-rex is also much more maneuverable than a spinosaurus. T-rex had a very unique ability to distribute its weight and didn't have a massive, heavy, stiffening sail.

However, keep in mind that regardless of which is its weight, it's not like other theorpod's. Spino's sail is actually 1/3 its weight.

T-rex's strength and power would be unmatched against just about any known theropod, ever more so when comparing it to a very slender spino(unless you believe the more modern fatter spino)
However, with weight not being much, spino was not built for power and its sail was 1/3 its weight meant that weight truly was another advantage for t-rex

@spitfiremodeller123 Spino was only 51ft to a maximum of 55ft while t-rex was 45ft yet at the same height to the hip(the sail is like counting an afro). This would mean spino is NOT dramatically larger and the only size difference is simply length. The only reason why spino is longer is simply due to its very long tail and its overly elongated narrow neck and snout which would mean that spino size isn't going to much especially in terms of strength.

Tyrannosaurus was built for combat and could withstand injury. Theres been finds of broken limbs, twisted joints, snapped vertebrae, even a chunk of the skull and brain case torn out. However, such wounds show signs of healing, meaning it survived injuries that would kill most animals. T rex always wins, but to all Rex fanboys, STOP saying spino's a weak, pathetic dinosaur. He was 7x more successful than t rex and didn't need the most powerful bite force on land. Both dinosaurs are magnificent.

1. That T-Rex (I believe) isn't a juvenile, but it does seem young. Reasons for that: it's size indicates that it was full grown. Looking at when the T-Rex first started chasing them in the beginning. However, it has unusual behavior. It seems curious rather than actually trying to hurt them.
2. Everyone forgets that ALL dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are mutated. So they aren't exactly the same as the animals they once were. That being said, some may be bigger, smaller, weaker, or stronger than...

Through logical perspectives, t-rex would ultimately win. Keep in mind, this is just a 30ft juvenile t-rex and the spino's CG design is grossly inaccurate(doesn't even look like an actual spino).
In actuality, they are at the same height to the hip. T-rex is a much stronger and powerful animal than spinosaurus. T-rex's durability also gives it a major edge over spino. Let alone t-rex being vastly much more intelligent. T-rex is also more than twice as fast as well as agile and maneuverable.

So really, there was some science behind this battle. But sometimes, we just want fun and less reality, everybody would have liked the Rex to win regardless as it's universally loved.

@RoxasMark The Dilophosaurus was just artistic liberty from the designers, it was nothing to do with InGEN genetically modifying them in the plot. The Raptors were in fact Deinonychus in the film, but Spielberg liked the name Velociraptor better so called them that. Frog DNA doesn't relate to those anyway. The frog DNA only resulted to them changing sex, as explained in the film. They are genetically created mutants, sure, but within the film, they were only genetically engineered to be female.

"The Making of Jurassic Park" book +audio commentaries has the artists+Stan Winston explaining the design decisions and changes throughout all 3 films (dinos are different throughout)

0:31 Would have killed the spinosaurus instintly. And the headbut to the ribs also would have slowed the spino down.Dont get me wrong i like spinos but im just saying.And also the spino at mostly fish was on his menu unlike rexy:)

The spinosaurus was larger yes, but primarily was strong in hunting fish, the t-rex was large and strong and was built and made for hunting dinosaurs like the spinosaurus, the bite force was ridiculously strong, and that first bite it gave to the spinosaurus would've taken it out... however this is a movie and its all good fun ^__^

1. To Rex and Spino fans- stop making false facts just so "your dinosaur" seems stronger and smarter than the other.
2. Both dinosaurs where kick ass, get over it and stop getting butthurt over a JP movie.

@manu9623 Actually,t-rex is much more furious, superior and more advance with much more advantages due to all factual evidence, especially compared to the lonesome, delicate piscivore known as spino that is actually a creature that would normally flee from danger(this movie dramatized spino simply because it was larger , well in actuality just LONGER and just looked very different instead of a similar look that would make children think the antagonist is just another t-rex)

Does anyone else agree that they'd probably be even? Yes, it would be over for spino if rex got a hold of the neck first. But they would probably be even. T rex has advantage of bite force. Spino has advantage of size and claws. It really depends on who bites the neck first. If spino got a hold of the neck first, its conical teeth would break into the rex's trachea, killing it. If t rex got a hold of the neck first, its powerful jaws would snap spino's neck.
I like the spino better, personally

@Penguinmanm Spino actually had a long and very slender neck; nothing especially spino's slender neck could possibly withstand the one bite kill of a t-rex(this movie dramatized its neck as they did with every bit of this inaccurate CG design). However, t-rex had a very thick musculature neck wrapped with a very thick hide. Spin's HOLLOWED teeth aren't long enough and its jaws are far too weak. Not only that, but spio wouldn't even be able to reach it and t-rex's neck was too agile

@Penguinmanm However, the fact that t-rex can destroy spino's neck with 0:30 whereas spino would do little to nothing to the t-rex's very thick musculature neck wrapped with a very thick hide was was also too agile, is just skimming the surface of the realization that in actuality, t-rex is far too much for an actual spinosaurus.

@Penguinmanm T-rex is more than twice s fast. T-rex didn't have such debacles such a massive heavy sail that was 1/3 of its weight.Its center of gravity is actually the best found on any other large theropod with a very unique ability to distribute its weight. T-rex even had ostridge like legs, special knee joints and a quick turn tail.More newer studies shows that t-rex had a unique biology which gave it massive leg muscles that even connected to ts tail

@Penguinmanm Spino perhaps wasn't even capable of running. However, spino isn't just the slowest theropod in general but undeniably the very least agile by a significantly large margin. Just its sail reduces it dramatically alone.
T-rex is much more agile.
T-rex is also much more maneuverable than a spinosaurus. T-rex had a very unique ability to distribute its weight and didn't have a massive, heavy, stiffening sail.

T-rex's center of gravity was far superior and one of the very best found on a large theropod whereas spino's was very unsuited for actual combat and is one of the very poorest. T-rex had a very unique hip and leg deign that not only helped it to distribute its weight but also hold its ground
Spino didn't have such feature and would easily be out maneuvered
