Link's evolution from lovable, lazy goofball to a friend who refuses to settle for tragedy is done in a discreet way. No one says "You've changed, Link." You just see it in his eyes. I think that's brilliant.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but I can tell Zelda is truly changing...and it might not be for the best.

Though for the record, Groose is absolutely amazing. His development is great, you're right.

We're told at the beginning that he's a lazy douche bag with no real motivation, but without them saying it, we can't see it. Right from the start and throughout the game, Link simply follows orders. His sole motivation beyond that is that he wants to bone Zelda pretty hard.

As for Zelda, she simply loses all personality once she learns she's a (spoilers) princess/godess, juste like in WW.

We're told? It shines through his actions. He would've woken up late on the first day if not for Zelda's bird waking him. He's clearly not worried about practicing. Despite his incredible natural talent it took him this long to become a knight. He doesn't seem like a BAD student, but he's not a brainiac and given his flight skills and agility, it's clearly because a lack of effort.

And in the end, Tetra fought on the frontlines with Link, staying true to her brave nature.

Also, you can very clearly tell he's care free when you simply watch his actions. He carries himself in a relaxed matter, he see's flying as a sport or a relaxing activity, not something he can utilize as a knight. As for change The serious disposition he takes on when he enters a dungeon and his desperation after Zelda's capture (continuing in next comment.)

@EmceeProphIt Link chases Fi out of pure desperation; he doesn't even know what she is, but you feel this tinge of hope that she can somehow help. He adopts a more serious disposition after he sets out to save his friend. He's a silent character; all his development revolves around body language.

Tetra never whined, ya know. She was confused, overwhelmed by a DEMI GOD...Then proceded to not give a fuck and help kicked Ganon's ass anyway. That's not complex development, but her strength shined.

And as for Tetra, yes, whiny was a bit harsh. But she does lose some of her personality in the changing process, except of course for the ending where she's ready to kick Ganon's ass, even insulting him at some point. She's still a way better Zelda than SS' one (not talking about the beginning's Zelda).

The way you described it, I have a feeling Link never wanted to be a knight and was pushed around by most people to become one.
