this debate isnt really about racism. its about equality. conservatives claim to "see" minorities as equal, but minorities arent treated with equality in our institutions. minorities(especially "blacks") are still well behind in the wealth gap through no fault of there own. there is still institutional racism in the judicial and law enforcement systems of America. until minorities are equal in society, conservative policies of acting as if there is equality are against there interests.

If you look at long lived birds life long mating is very common, especially in species which require the care of two parents to succeed.

I don't know what side you're on and I don't care cause you don't seem to be completely insane. I'm a liberal and I have no problem with mating for life so it is just a person to person thing. However, I don't agree in mating for life with someone you don't love just because it's what you think you should do. That's why you have so many conservative men coming out the closet on their wives. Forgive me for not knowing the context of the situation.

The context was the question of whether the Human race is a mate for life species..which is true and has been taught that way biologically until recent atheist ideologues decided to attack human culture for no good apparent reason other than egotistical arrogance...and to be a general asses.
People that don't care for each other get a divorce...I have no problem with that. I just have a problem with evolutionary atheistic CLAIMS about biology.
I'm inclined to agree, people in the science field come up with a new version of "the truth" every day. Prisons and marriage came about a very long time after we evolved from H. Erectus, and probably didn't occur until well into the Cro-Magnon (H. Sapiens) era, if not until after we became H. Sapiens Sapiens. And, mating for life is very, very, rare in the animal kingdom, ask any biology teacher.

If you look at long lived birds life long mating is very common, especially in species which require the care of two parents to succeed.
It doesn't do any good to compare us to species which are lucky to survive two years and have huge litters which require little parental care: our lives are nothing like that!

Again, if humans were monogamous, we wouldn't be having this conversation. So, until you can bring some real science to the table, this will be my last response. Good luck, I like it when I'm wrong, I learn from it, but I don't think that's the case this time.

I am not claiming that we are naturally a monogamous species, we are not, but monogamy is the most common behaviour in our species, especially among those human societies which have been successful. We exist in a tension between monogamy, light polygyny and opportunist cheating, this can easily be inferred from our anatomy.

I never said I have anything against marriage, my point is it's a human invention, a piece of paper, and ceremony, and not necessary for raising a healthy well adjusted child. The science of human behavior has taught me in college, in books, and documentaries, and with in my own intuition, that everything you're state as fact, is nothing of the sort. If you have real science to support your statements I'd be very open to it.

It is NEVER a good idea to have a single parent, however if the mother or father is a GREAT mother or father then the child should turn out O.K..
