I mean, seriously, even video games are starting to take a leaf from the hand-drawn world. Games are being released to capture a style! Games like Marvel vs. Capcom 3, The World Ends With You, and the best example: Okami. All of these are beautiful games to look at and they try to imitate that 2D look. Movies should be doing hand-drawn as well, taking it it new heights and innovations!

This is such a classic appalling to know cinemas has loss the importance of movies like these letting them show only for like 2 weeks, if they made a big enough deal out of it I reckon they could have had just as big of a turn out when it was originally released. I loved it when I was young and think its sad they didn't give the chance  for people to go see it over a longer period. Besides many children probably haven't seen it so they would probably see it as being new.

Did anyone notice that they edited out some things from the original. For instance obviously the controversial word "sex" when Simba falls onto the flowers and the pollen blows away. The other change surprisingly is when Simba talks to Muffasa in the sky and as Muffasa leaves, Simba chases after him but unlike the original the clouds werent in the 3D version.. Did anyone else catch that?

@jozefd14 I didn't notice a change with Mufasa, but I did notice the message in the clouds was taken out. Actually, the message read "SFX", which was an easter egg left by the special effects team that worked on the movie. I guess after the controversy, they felt it best to just remove it, which I can understand.

Hand drawn or CG? No! It's about the story and heart that goes into it. Shrek was good because the story was good. Not because of the CG. Beast, Lion, Mermaid, Aladdin, they were really good stories and the song writers put all their heart into the songs. That's why they did so well.  Everything after was mediocre. The CG and 3D is going to suck if they don't put the same effort into the stories and songs. Like the old saying goes. We don't hate musicals. We just hate bad ones!

I'm getting ready to see it at 4pm...going alone to be honest. Gonna try and sneak into the 3D version by paying for the 4:30 2D version. I figured, why not re-live a childhood memory, its one of the earliest memorable movies I can remember seeing in theaters as a kid..except that was when theaters were tiny and no stadium seating or anything...so why not test it out in 3D (which usually I hate)...AND do the $2 popcorn deal today.

I saw this in theaters yesterday. They did the 3D fantastically! I thought it looked good and not half-assed, and I have to admit, having Scar leap right at you during the final battle is amazing. There was really only once or twice that it looked a little off, but it was still wonderful all the way around. And I agree that it was great to see this again on the big screen anyways. 9.9/10
