@wollam11 Yea, if you slow "U Smile" down 800 %, Justin Bieber actually isn't that bad. I would find a link for you, but apparently, the track isn't available anymore.
ANYWAY, Sigur Rós is still way more beautiful, than a slowed down Justin Bieber will ever be.
i heard that my friend passed away about 30 minutes ago and from this moment on.. i'm just listening to sigur ros. best thing i can do now. so beautiful and bittersweet. i love these guys.
Words can't describe the feeling I get from this song. Just everything is peace, everything is right in the world. If only everyone listened to this :)
He never mentioned that. He said he started using the cello bow by pure coincidence and experimenting since originally the bass player tried using it on the bass, and that sucked so he took it instead.
I am SO glad I found this! I used to watch the HBO Reverb programs religiously - this was always my favorite. I don't know exactly what it is, but every time I hear them I can't help but be at peace.
it fuckin kills me that i never saw them when they came to california. i wasnt a huge fan then but now im fuckin in love with them. seeing them live would be a lifechanging experience and i am fucking jelaous of anybody whos been to any of their shows. WHEN WILL THEY TOUR AGAIN! AAAAHHHHH
Ive seen them 5 times and also traveled from Edinburgh to London to see Jonsi in his solo show. They are recording a new album after he's finished the solo stuff so go see them they will blow your mind and if you can buy Heima the dvd its amazing.
@kingdomjared It actualy IS a life changing experience. I was close to miss them cause I was going to buy tickets for Mogwai in NYC(it was the same date, Sept. 18th 2008), and I can't remember why I didn't buy them, but it was the best desicion/heavenly intervetion I've ever had.
This was the first time I saw Sigur Ros, when they aired this show back in HBO. I was so amazed I couldn't stop crying out of the impression. Last year I saw them in NYC and I had that feeling again, my heart in my throath, my jaw almost on the floor, and tears running in my cheeks. I can't think of anything more intense than Sigur Ros playing live...
Wasn't this episode of Reverb incredible? Bjork was the other half of the episode performing at the Riverside Church. She did the hits from the Homogenic and Vespertine albums. She was the reason that many tuned into this episode of Reverb. Sigur Ros stoled the show. Ágætis byrjun was just released in the states so this was Sigur Ros first exposure. Sigur Ros became the new face of Icelandic music.
Gosh this brings back all the memories of going to see them live. They are so unbelievably amazing, they can't be human, they must be Gods :) love how Jonsi uses the bow, sounds like mountains moving or something similar. Such a vast, beautiful sound.
Sorry , but maybe you need to understand two things before commenting here. First, MUSIC and second, CREATIVITY.. Come back once you know little about these two . See ya, till then.
THATS SO SICK HES USING A VIOLIN STICK (dont know name sorry) TO PLAY THE GUITAR-Svefn g Englar is the sickist with that tool then he speaks into the guitar to alter voice.
I saw them live and I thought they were incredibly on the records they made but live they did something what no other band ever could do to me they were incredible!!!!
tool was my favorite band.. but then i heard sigur ros.. woooow, and im not saying i like it more than tool, because its the first time i hear them, but its really impressing, and beautiful
I cut my musical teeth on the Progressive Rock era. I never thought that anyone thereafter could ever challenge the shear power & majesty of YES, EL&P, Pink Floyd, RUSH, Van Der Graff Generator, Moody Blues, Genesis, WHO, King Crimson, etc. but I happily concede that today's music is better than ever. With bands like Sigur Ros (I'm a fan for 10 years), Nightwish, Muse, Radiohead, Amethystium (super incredible 1 man band), etc., I think the musical baton has been passed without dropping.
I'm a music junky! As a Nightwish fan of 3 years I own all their CDs & DVDs. It's a matter of taste but I think they're one of the all-time greatest Power Rock bands I've heard. They've both male & female vocals. Tarja was replaced by Anette recently. Truely epic sound. Songs like, I Wish I had an Angel, Islander, Over The Hills & Far Away, Amaranth, & Pink Floyd's High Hopes marks them as worthy of listening. Many who hear them for the first time consider them their new favorite band.
OK, never heard of this Nightwish but have heard of most of the others. A few suggestions for Nightwish that I should check out considering that I like Sigur Ros?
they're nothing alike (hence all the "nightwish???" comments). nightwish is a power-metal/symphonic metal band (think iron maiden meets evnescence) complete with spooky wardrobe and pointy guitars. An integral part of any 13-year-old's transition from child to adult.
I´seen Sigur Ros in Germany at the Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel! And when Songs came the Sky became a weird formation. 70000 people were looking at the sky with these songs! It was a very Magic Moment!
I think gobbledigook is a one off though... I've only heard previews of the other songs, but they're not as mainstream/accessible as gobbledigook. it's a great song regardless
Man, that's one of the best concert DVD's i've ever seen. Do with there were more songs on it though like ny batteri, the nothing song, i gear, ect. Still a great movie though.
