  • I'd like to POP something else into her and the cake.

    VaVa Voom!

  • Thank you so much for this delicious yet simple recipe Andrea.

  • Hi, do you think I can do it in my Vitamix? Great simple recipe !!!

  • @missrawflower I think it would either be too thick, or get overblended and the oil would separate from the nuts...However, I have never tried it!

  • Damn! I'm allergic -_-

  • damn u sexy, u can get it

  • Thankyou !

  • how long would the cake last in the fridge? a few days?

  • Gonna have to try this!! Thanks!

  • Give thank And Praise...thank You Empress wwwdotOrganicFitnessdotORG

  • so is the final taste more chocolate-y or date-y?

  • she is prego

  • U probably could soak the dates and walnuts...digest better that way, but it might make the cake to wet and sticky..

  • I don't have a food processor. Any ideas on making this cake without one??

  • @DeidraKay23 mortar and pestle?

  • Ah! So excellence :) thank you.

  • just made it... i didnt have any dates though, instead i used prunes and raisins.

love it :) i would like more quick simple things like this to make. i am turning to a 'whole food' way, and love the idea of having alot of things raw/living regularly.

  • this is very delicious. I have made it several times. BUT what blender do you use? I broke a very small blender and just got a medium sized cuisanart and I believe one of the blades might have gotten compromised because I got cut when I was scraping out some of the food that had creeped up. My hand was nowhere near the blade and I started to bleed on my finger. Not really sure what happened there. But anyyways, what blender can handle this sort of dense food?

  • this would have to be the best cake I have ever eaten ...mouthwatering !! Why anyone would go to the trouble of baking a cake when you can make one this easily is beyond me !

  • Your recipe is good but your presentation is humorless.

  • HA we can make "lara bars" with this recipe! Very nice!

  • I've made this cake twice now. It is easy and so delicious. It makes great cupcakes too that you can freeze and pack for lunch.

  • Hi

I am not a raw vegan, hell I am not even a vegan I am meat eater to the 10'th degree. But I started a weight loss quest for about 8 months ago (I used to be 240 lbs, now I am 170) but 3 months ago that changed to become a health quest as well, so even though I am a meat eater I have been watching Runing Raw, I read up on all sorts of diets and foods because I believe in learning from anything and everything. This was freaking awsome, I have no idea how you even came up with that :D

  • Can the walnuts be replaced with peanuts or hazelnuts? I'm allergic to the rest of the nut varieties. Great recipe!!!! Thanks!!!

  • @asianhomebucket I can't speak on her behalf, but I think hazelnuts would taste really good with raw cacao. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

  • Why not make chocolate frosting out of cocoa and avocados?

  • i made this recipe after i watched this video and oh my gosh, i never thought such simple easy to make raw desserts could be so good!! thanks for the recipe. and for the rest of you, try it - it's delicious (and luckily nutritious).

  • Oh my god I made a cake! Your cake- my first cake ever! I didnt have vanila, but I added cacao with carob. The recipe is simple but flexible, i added some fruits! I must confess that when I read the title I was sold- 10 min hihih! Thank you very much! It is for my brother s birthday- I am curious what will say! I find the cake out of this world, even though I use the individual ingredients on daily base.

  • I loooove this cake! I'm taking it to a birthday party Saturday! Thanks!

  • Great recipe :) can you soak the dates and walnuts?

  • simple and beautiful .. way to go!

  • I made this & really didn't like it *=(

but I used coco powder couldn't find

the other one maybe that's why.

  • I saw your vid the other day and I told my daughter that we had to make your cake and we made it today and it is fantastic. we went with agave nectar and cherries on top instead of the coconut and it tastes soooo good. try it. my 4 yr. old loved it. my 2yr. old son was full on organic chocolate chip cookies. i like this cake cause you can use any topping you want and it will taste good.

  • Does it taste alot like walnuts? Im not a big fan

  • I'm totally making this!! Raw Foodists from Kansas know what's up!! Thank you! : )

  • Tried it. Loved it! :D

    Thanks for sharing.

  • nice! Thanks for sharing that.

  • I made this for my y birthday!! IT'S DELICIOUS THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING IT WITH ALL THE YOUTUBERS!!

  • awesome! i'll try it with honey and let u know how it goes! its just that they dont sell medjool dates where i live :(

please post more awesome videos!! u r very inspiring!

  • @hajima45 Aww, thanks!!! I am learning video editing and working on getting a second camera so that I can stop holding the cam and moving it around so much...It makes people dizzy =D Thanks for the kind words!!!

Send me a personal message and I'll send you the name of a website where you can purchase bulk ingredients...much cheaper and I'm pretty sure they have dates... =D

  • can i use organic honey instead of the medjool dates?

  • @hajima45 you could, BUT the dates help to add volume as well as acting as a binding agent...Sounds like a delicious idea, though =D Maybe try a 1/2 or 1/4 batch and let me know how it turns out...I would love to know =D I like your creativity and resourcefulness =D

  • i love dates :)

  • Thank you for your neatness, pleasantness, and professionalism in your presentation and instructions. Look forward to much more, and keep up the excellent work!

  • @galukya1 Hey, thank you for the kind words!!!

  • Hi Andrea, I tried the cake a few times now. Its great! thanks so much for sharing ; )

Just curious, have you experimented with changing the mix in anyway?

  • @wingchunming I have added dried cherries, bananas on the bottom, almond butter, coconut in the mix (makes it more like a cake...), orange extract, cherry extract, etc...Is that what you meant? As far as changing the nuts out or anything, I haven't attempted that, as I like the walnut texture for this recipe =D

  • @primmitiv yup thats what I meant ; ) thats really cool, I have made it twice now and its really tasty. Yeah I like the walnut taste also.

Thanks for your vids, much appreciated ; )

  • im makin this one tonight- looks great especially with the coconut.

  • You seem really nice and I love the recipe but the way in which you speak is kinda harsh and snippy like: "Yeah, if you have a brain..." "You can kill yourself but I prefer..." I just noticed that and had to point it out, no dis. It's kinda funny actually but yeah... (* Scratches neck and looks away*...)

  • @Weewinkle7 I can see how my presentation may land like that!!! Thank you for your honesty and directness =D I appreciate your authenticity =D

  • @primmitiv No problem! Keep on going with your vids your recipes are awesome!

  • Thank you so much for being down to earth, so many raw vegans I find online are a little out there. & thanks for the recipe!!

  • great recipe...but what is need the salt for?

  • @DaxusDragon salt really accentuates the flavor of the chocolate, also balances out the sweet. The recipe will work without it if you're not a salt fan =D

  • thats more of a brownie

  • @Riiyona Good point, it is!!!

  • How do you make a chocolate sause with CaCao?

  • @mknecht40 Several ways!!! The easiest for me is to use avocados and agave, a lil water n some salt and blend! There are many ways, though, that can taste better depending upon what you have on hand..Try googling 'raw chocolate sauce', you'll find TONS of great recipes!!! Hope this helps!!!

  • i would love to use this to wash down a big steak

  • @PhuckRicers You're an idiot.

  • @PhuckRicers I think that may cause a lil digestive discomfort, solely because the meat would take longer to digest...I would suggest eating the cake first!!!

Maybe some milk too =D lol...I like a lil puss with my chocolate and uric acid =D

  • Hi Andrea, I want to make this -- I don't have a foodprocessor, can I blend it? Should I add a little bit of water to blend??

  • Sweet, now I can be vegan w/out a microwave in my new apt. and not starve!

  • Andrea please write an uncookbook! Youre recipes are the best!

Guys this is soooo good!. An added note: the softer the dates the softer the cake/ brownies.

  • This is a recipe by Jenny Cornbleet! She has MANY great recipes in her book "Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People", check it out! Most of the recipes don't have more than 5 ingredients and take nothing more than a blender/cuisineart...

  • Thanks for responding so promptly. I was wondering if I should buy her book; but I really like your presentation-you're fun and lively Andrea you'd have a ton of fans/patrons. Are you still hosting raw prep classes? I would buy your DVD if you ever recorded. I'll put J. Cornbleet on my wishlist for now- Thanks!

  • @primmitiv

Has Cornbleet written a cookbok with recipies for 4/5/more people? Going Raw Vegan is easy when you're on your own...

  • @Guitarscreech06 U could just double the recipes for 2 people =D Just make sure to hold back on salt and pungents like garlic and onions..You can always add more to taste =D

  • looks yummy! :)

  • A nice, easy recipe. I'm vegan, but new to raw and just refuse to get involved in a lot of dehydrated food. This is what raw treats should be - quick and simple, but looks great and tastes good.

  • thx

  • hey guys do you have to refrigerate after making it?

  • omg i love how you have easy and delicious recipes! do you have any chocolate cheesecake recipes/brownies or bread/pizza?

  • hey i just uploaded a raw pizza vid, check out my page, more to come!

  • thanks man

  • @leVEGABOND YUM!!! Rawkstar =D

  • Sweet thanks I'm going to go make this for my friend's birthday right now! I have all the ingredients too!

  • hey andrea thanks for posting this, it's great to get this stuff out there.

can i just say that it's hard to watch though because of the camera moving so fast when you are holding it, do you have a friend who could hold it still for us ?

    thanks

    Sid

  • @sandolfen I know, sorry about that, I was just getting started when I made these. I am learning video editing and working on getting 2 camera angles in future vids...Stay tuned...Thank you for the suggestion, I know others feel the same!!!

  • FANTASTIC recipe!!!! It was so incredibly delicious. Thank you for sharing.

  • I love chocolate, and this recipe looks easy and delicious. I was looking for a good raw cake, I will try this. Thanks

  • Could you put your recipes in the side bar please? Love your demos! Also could you please expound on the argument for raw vegan diet vs. cooked vegan diet?

  • @suicidechickenshit I have no argument =D Whatever works for you =D

  • Whoa, that's SO good!!!

  • MamaQ, Try adding shredded coconut to the mix to make it lighter and more cake-like.

  • Holy CRAP! I'm vegan, and i thought hey, it's time to put some more raw foods in your life!

I wish that every cake in the world tasted like this one. It has a rich, true chocolate flavor, delicately accentuated with sea salt and it's so smooooooooooth and dreamy!

This cake must be HORRIBLE for you, how else can it taste SO GOOD??? <3 u!

    Thank you forever!

  • Hey Andrea,

    Love Your Demos,

    Love You Smile,

    Keep on Rawking,

cause You are a Star !

    Your Kitty Fan

  • Thanks for the recipe! I am not a big chocolate eater but occasionally I get a craving for it. This cake looks easy enough so I will try it. Btw, did you soak the walnuts prior to using them or is that not necessary?

  • its delicious and so are you raw chic

  • OMG! I love your healthy easy deleesh recipe.10 stars

    Thank you.Subscribed

  • Could this be made with almonds?

  • Orange peal cut into small bits and mix it in the cake, makes it so much better.

  • Great suggestion! Thank you!

  • im gonna try this

    ur pretty btw :P

  • 20 dates? thats not a chocolate cake..its a sugar cake

  • It is quite sweet, but it's a cake/dessert! You could use kale, but that won't taste as great.

  • If you're a raw foods vegan, why is there a whole Lazy Susan cupboard full of jars and boxes?

  • I share the house with 4 other people who aren't entirely raw! They make their own food choices and so do I and we all respect one another. I am amused by your suspicion. HILARIOUS! Does that even really matter anyway? I am putting up information for people's enjoyment and learning! Don't you have bigger fish to fry?

  • I love cooking but I'm awful at baking. What a great way around it!!

  • I just made this and it is ridiculously good. very decadent, almost more like brownies than cake.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

  • Hey it's not like you would be able to resist eating the whole thing in one sitting.

  • I know, right? lol

  • I have to say this cake does not only taste good... it is delicious. It taste so much better than normal cake, I love the strong chocolate flavor. In the downside it can be quite expensive, Here in my country the wallnuts and dates are uber expensive.

Thank you Andrea for the recipe, I am not vegan or raw, only health conscious. Watching your videos and your energy is making me start replacing meals with your raw recipes. they taste really good, (I tried the burritos also). Keep posting vids.

  • I agree, it's not cheap! Would it be possible to form a co-op there and order in bulk? I have found that to be helpful!

  • Is there anyway to make it fluffier? It was really thick--did that have to do with me using dried dates?

  • I soaked my dates the second time and it was still thick...This seems to be more of a brownie than a cake, but adding fruit or Raw Chocolate Frosting (Avocado, Cocoa powder, and agave nectar) helps it go down a little smoother..Thanks again.

  • @MamaQuita0109 You may try adding some coconut..it will fluff it up and make it more moist and cakelike =D

  • A cheaper alternative would be using raisins instead of dates and replace some of the nuts with sunflower seeds. It won't taste the same, but it will still be good.

  • Thanks for that idea.

  • @elburrona Hey!!! If you're interested in buying in bulk, email me and I can send you to a website with great wholesale pricing...

  • i think vegan is easy but raw vegan? i need way more info...great recipe...but wat if you dont have a food processor or dehydrator? can i use a blender of coffee grinder :P

  • I did it today with both of them.. I chopped the walnuts and then put them in the blender,, but not to fast otherwise it will turn into a paste. The dates I used the coffe grinder and then I mixed everything by hand. ( My food processor broke after I bought the ingredients)

  • ahh so u can you use a blender, nice im so trying this but most of the desserts have too many nuts

    thanx

oh did it? glad i havent bought one then :P

  • Comment removed

  • You'lle probably need to go and buy one. You don't need a dehydrator. You can buy dates dried.

  • all these vegan people look so skinny!

  • Comment removed

  • you are incredible! how long have you been raw?

  • over 2 years! Thank you =D

  • ahhhhhhh that look so friggin good. i got the munies and i want to eat it all.

  • Great recipe! Thanks!

  • Since going raw, I've been looking for a chocolate cake recipe. THANK YOU! I've tried a few of your recipes. EXCELLENT. Keep them coming.

  • Thank you!

  • yumm! I just made this, very good. I added a bit of agave syrup to make mine a bit more moist.

  • Looks delicious but it's just like the popular raw food chocolate bar by Larabar (Jocolat) that I get from my supermarket

  • Ahhh, I haven't had one of those, I 'll have to try it!

  • but yours looks a lot more tastier than those that come out of a pkt.

  • @glazay1 It can turn out that way if you allow the walnuts to overprocess...The oils get separated from the nut...Still probably tastes alright, though, yeah?

  • Excellent! just made it and topped it with some raspberry sauce that we found a recipe for. Defiantly a winner!

    Thanks for the video!

  • Great job!

  • This is soooo gooooood !! OMG one of the best chocolate cake I've tasted, and its RAW!

thanks for the video Andrea :)

  • You're welcome, thank you!

  • hellooo, happy holydays!!!!

    peace

  • You look a lot like Heidi Fleiss (Hollywood madam)...she was vegan.

  • Heidi Fleiss - just checked out some pics and I can totally see the resemblance - but I am not THAT skinny! Pretty brilliant woman, though =D

  • I have noticed that it seems Most Raw Women are very skinny and underweight,

just curious, if you dont mind sharing, what is your current height and weight ?

  • I am 5'10 and 145-150, it's been a while since I weighed myself =D

  • excellent weight, you are Healthy and not too skinny , thanks for sharing.

Just curious, do you currently take, or have you experimented with the following foods, raw supplements ? and whats your Opinion on them

Goji berries, E3Live Frozen Fresh Algae, MSM, Green Superfood Powders such as Vitamineral Green , Camu camu berry powder

  • @ACEBAKER911 Yep, love em! Although I do my best to get nutrients from as many whole foods as possible =D The algaes are sooo awesome!!!! I like marine phytoplankton and cordyceps too....
