Vats is there because Fallout 3 isn't this extreme first person shooter, and it's not as smooth as other FPS games. So, while live action combat is still efficient, VATS makes it a bit more efficient in some cases.

In a way,this is what Fallout 3 should have been like. dark and creey like the first two, and actually playing like an FPS. Fallout 3 felt like a third person game in first person, if that makes sense. the control method is not suited for guns at all, the re-loading animations were pretty crap and the sounds were awful. also, the damage was a bit.; shit. I know it's supposed to be an RPG, but come on, 50 bullets to the face just to kill something? blowing it's head off in one shot should do it.

I've found out how to load this in HL2. First, make sure console mode is activated. Pressing the tilde key, type in "map mapname" replacing mapname with the file name of the map. I found that I had to active noclip mode first then deactivate it to move.

fallout 3 rules. in fallout 2 and 1 you had to go into vats and chose your weapon even if there was already a weapon equiped for you. In fallout 3 you can use the already equiped one

The original Fallout games had turn based combat but it wasn't called VATS. It was just simply a turn based combat game. A lot of people didn't really enjoy the turn based combat of the original games. So Bethesda compromised for Fallout 3 they had real time combat with the ability to go into VATS in an effort to appeal to the die hard old school Fallout fans and newcomers alike. And that's the story of how VATS was born.

Nope, in F1 the vault was partially collapsed. This is the F2 version (evidenced by the vault being intact and that power can be restored). Though the door is a bit funny... compared to the original anyways (door rolls over completely and the doorway isn't rectangular; in F3, the door doesn't even rotate).

Original fallout team tried to buy rights to fallout franchise but bethesda had more money. I think that Fallout3 is really too oblivion like, ok vats ?? what the fuck is that really ? in the end it just turns out to be FPS. My opinion is that, Fallout 1 & 2 are the real games. Bethesda didnt even want the original Fallout 1 & 2 crew on their team, and NOT even the original fallout music composer ?? Wtf ?? and they decided to make their own version of fallout, and i think it sucks. This game isnt like the Fo1 & Fo2 fans liked it, you should really read what an asshole team bethesda is really.
