Beautiful playing, excellent rendition of probably one of the first tunes I can remember hearing on the 'wireless' in the 50's (in Wales, UK). Fabulous.
I've had this great melody in my head all day and when i discovered yr interesting take on it here it made me realize again how a truly classic song can accommodate all kinds of arrangement. This one moved me deeply-- you play beautifully.
Thank you much shuttergun. The arrangement credits for this version, of course, belong to the great Pat Donohue. I'm just happy I came across it and was able to learn it, especially since Pat never tabbed it out!
Is that you Gerry? How are you man! Great to hear from you. Yes, it was a painstakingly long time coming, but I finally was able to piece enough of it together to make it whole. Thanks for your post! All the best with the tune, and let's see it soon!!!
@Gitfiddlemann, yes, it's Gerry. Still playing and I need to post some new videos soon! Hope you're well. Your email tips and this video are a great help for Blue Tango.
Very well done! This is probably my fav Donohue song and you did a wonderful cover of it (IMHO)...was wondering if you had a more recent performance of it, reason for asking is my impression of this video si that you are a bit "stiff" from becoming 100% familiar with the song..please dont take my comment the wrong way..I would really like to see a video of you playing it now as im sure your feel for the piece is much more personal...
THanks for your post, and I didn't take it the wrong way at all. It's true actually. This was my very first video and it did feel a little uncomfortable. I don't have any recent re-dos of this in video, but you're right. I'm more comfortable with the tune, and I even corrected a few wrong notes!

NICE tune! Is that OPEN G tuning??
or Drop D? Sounds like G to me...
thnx, ddanze

Hi ddanze,
The tune is in Drop D, (6th string only)
Thanks again.

superb Andre!
Absolutely excellent!
Sorry so long in getting the DVD to you.
I have not forgotten!
It'd GREAT if you do another run on this tune,
perhaps a tad slower and with some explanation of the chord positions and RH strikes.
Simple instruction....no need for perfection.
I would love to learn this one, and I bet a few others would too .
thanks

Hey Rob,
No problem, and no hurry!
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
I've never done an "instruction" video before but I'll give it some thought. In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks again,
Andre

Thanks! and sorry about the later reply. I missed seeing your question.
The tuning is "Drop D",i.e. standard tuning except for the bass 6th string E, which gets tuned down a whole step to D.
