I'm shopping at Macy's. After one year of making the mistake of telling their employees not to say "Merry Christmas," they are back to having real Christmas sales and decorations and saying "Merry Christmas." Their sales went up! What a surprise!
Really? What is December 25?? Look at your calendar. Notice it says CHRISTMAS? Christmas is an official holiday. Federal workers and the federal government gets that day off. So do State workers, and those that have decent employers. I don't mean critical workers, like police, and EMT's and Fire people.
this is the way I see it: Christmas is the biggest moneymaker. Alienate those who celebrate Christmas, and you risk losing most of your business. What would retailers rather do: Make HUGE profits, or be politically correct? Christmas is too commercial anyway, and if retailers want to offend me by omitting Christmas, then they won't get one red cent from me for the Christmas season.
Go ahead, leave out Christmas. I won't buy. Retailers should kiss my ass, not offend it.
Lets see if you approve this one. I tend to agree that retailers tread on thin ice during the season.
That being said, I noticed something. Here in the northeast people will simply say Happy Holidays because we do have Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, et al here.
Down south they say Merry Christmas. Haven't heard that in years.
I am not offended by christmas, but not everyone believes in this "christ" person.
And yes, it's only because of the bucks... Christmas always was.

But they chose their profession.

Jesus isn't in America judging by some of the hateful things I've heard come out of the mouths of professed Christians.
It is my believe that were he to return he'd be killed once again.
Sometimes we miss the forest for the trees.
