1995/1996 was strongest point of gothenburg metal, in flames the jester race, dark tranquillity the gallery,at the gates slaughter of the soul, gates of ishtar a bloodred path and ceremonial oath carpet,my favourite albums
This was really their best album! Great stuff. like it a lot. My old band was named Seasons of Frost, but had nothing to do with this song, was a funny coincidence.
Members from GOI were also in a band called "The Everdawn", who released a couple of albums. Their sound was similar, but their major label release got mixed up in the large crowd of similar sounding gothenburg style bands of their era. From there, some members went on to be in a band called "The Duskfall", which still exists. Although I don't personally care for the duskfall, it's good to know where they came from.
Well this along with At the Gates, (old) In Flames, (old) Soilwork was more the Gothenburg Melodeath scene, not like more recent Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Insomnium etc.
Wouldn't say Black vocals, but yea it's not the same deeper sounds you hear nowadays.
Wow, this is one of the few black metal bands that doesn't sound like complete shit. THe intro was very melodic, you don't see that kind of stuff tooo often.
yeah you do... and Black Metal aint shit if u know how to listen to it... let it flow through you. Don't listen with your ears, listen with your soul.
i don't really like black metal either except melodic black metal because bands like dimmu borgir just annoy me so i like to listen to black metal with a little bit high tuned guitar for example yo :P i sort of like the band chthonic they got an awesome keyboard player
@ThrashMetaltillDeth I think Gates of Ishtar has a little Black Metal influence. The blastbeats and that kind of riffs upon them never were part of the oldschool melodeath.

i love the drums at 3:10, my old drummer used to play kind of the same part in one of our songs

this is epic! but the vocals sound like black metal, as with a lot of melodeath bands. (not that that's a bad thing.)

So muss guter harter Metal klingen. Ein bissl Schweden Death, noch ne gute Portion Black Metal hinzugefügt, und fertig ist eine klasse Song.
Da können sich andere ein beispiel dran nehmen.\m/
